REGENTS’ POLICY MANUALSECTION 2—ACADEMICSCourse Changes and Petitions will be considered approved by the graduate faculty seven (7) days after theminutes are delivered if no written protest is received in the Graduate College <strong>of</strong>fice. When a writtenprotest is made by one or more members <strong>of</strong> the graduate faculty, the course change or petition will bereturned to Council for reconsideration. If the Council confirms its initial action, the matter will beconsidered final.Actions <strong>of</strong> the Graduate Council other than Course Changes and Petitions will not be put into effect untilat least 30 days after the notification <strong>of</strong> such actions has been circulated among the graduate faculty. Ifduring the 30-day period a valid written protest to Council action is made, the matter will be returned tothe Council for reconsideration. To be valid, the protest must be signed by 40 members <strong>of</strong> the graduatefaculty or 80 currently enrolled graduate students. If the Council confirms its initial action, a meeting <strong>of</strong>the graduate faculty shall be called for its consideration <strong>of</strong> the contested action.
