REGENTS’ POLICY MANUALSECTION 2—ACADEMICSANNOUNCEMENTThe recipients <strong>of</strong> the Regents’ Award for Superior Teaching, Regents’ Award for Superior Researchand Creative/Scholarly Activity, and Regents’ Award for Superior Pr<strong>of</strong>essional and University Serviceand Public Outreach will be announced by the Board <strong>of</strong> Regents at spring meetings <strong>of</strong> the faculty.PREREQUISITESEach award will consist <strong>of</strong> affixing the recipient’s name to a permanent plaque in a prominent andsuitable location and a cash award <strong>of</strong> $2,000. A certificate suitable for framing will be presented to therecipient.(RM, 5-11-78, pp. 14958-60; amended 9-11-86, pp. 19214-5; 6-27-95, p. 24478; 1-27-<strong>2004</strong>, p.28924)2.5.4—COLLEGE AWARDS FOR FACULTY AND STAFFColleges that wish to use private funds to give faculty or staff merit awards for outstandingperformance must secure the Senior Vice President and Provost’s approval <strong>of</strong> the selection procedure andthe amount <strong>of</strong> awards prior to any advertising or announcement. As a general rule, awards are given oncea year and are limited to less than 10 percent <strong>of</strong> the recipient’s salary. Annual deadlines will beestablished for the submission <strong>of</strong> criteria and awards. Announcements <strong>of</strong> recipients will not be made untilthe President has approved the annual recommendation. These awards will be made from absolutelyunrestricted funds or funds designated specifically for faculty/staff awards.
