REGENTS’ POLICY MANUALSECTION 2—ACADEMICS3) A summary <strong>of</strong> the evidence upon which the complaint is based.4) A list <strong>of</strong> witnesses to be called, a brief summary <strong>of</strong> their testimony, and a list <strong>of</strong> exhibits to bepresented.(b) The Chair <strong>of</strong> the Faculty Appeals Board will upon receipt <strong>of</strong> the complainant's statement, request therespondent to submit to both the chair and the complainant, within 20 working days, a writtenstatement including:1) Relevant policies <strong>of</strong> the administrative or academic unit, the College, the Provost's Office,President's Office and the Board <strong>of</strong> Regents.2) The written response outlining the specific points <strong>of</strong> defense.3) A summary <strong>of</strong> the evidence to be used in refuting the charges.4) A list <strong>of</strong> witnesses to be called, a brief summary <strong>of</strong> their testimony, and a list <strong>of</strong> exhibits to bepresented.(c) Selection <strong>of</strong> Hearing Committee:1) Within 5 working days after the pre-hearing conference (3.15.1 (e)(1)) the Chair <strong>of</strong> the FacultyAppeals Board will proceed with the selection <strong>of</strong> the hearing committee by submitting the list<strong>of</strong> names <strong>of</strong> the eligible Board members to both parties. The list shall not include a member <strong>of</strong>the same academic unit or one who is related by consanguinity or affinity to the respondent orcomplainant. Members and alternates currently serving on another hearing shall also beineligible. A member or alternate <strong>of</strong> the Hearing Committee may disqualify himself or herselfon personal initiative or in response to such challenge for cause as is provided for in thissection. The Chair <strong>of</strong> the Faculty Appeals Board shall also determine that no one on the list hasa bias related to the person(s) or issue at hand.2) Within 5 working days after submitting the list <strong>of</strong> eligible board members to both parties, theChair <strong>of</strong> the Faculty Appeals Board, will select seven members <strong>of</strong> the Board to constitute theHearing Committee, three additional members to serve as alternates, and ten members to beavailable for maintaining the alternate pool should replacements become necessary throughpersonal disqualification or challenge <strong>of</strong> individuals initially selected.The selection <strong>of</strong> members and alternate members <strong>of</strong> the Hearing Committee shall be made bylot and it shall be made in the presence <strong>of</strong> the chair <strong>of</strong> the Faculty Senate or a designatedrepresentative. The complainant and the respondent in the hearing shall be invited to be presentor to send a representative. The Chair <strong>of</strong> the Faculty Appeals Board shall notify members inwriting <strong>of</strong> their selection to the Hearing Committee and <strong>of</strong> the parties involved, and provide abrief description <strong>of</strong> the general nature <strong>of</strong> the issue.3) Within 10 working days <strong>of</strong> the initial selection <strong>of</strong> the Hearing Committee, the complainant orthe respondent in the case may submit a written request to the Chair <strong>of</strong> the Faculty AppealsBoard asking that members or alternates <strong>of</strong> the Hearing Committee be disqualified on grounds<strong>of</strong> bias or personal interest in the case. If, however, a challenge for cause is disputed by either<strong>of</strong> the parties, the Faculty Appeals Board Chair shall decide whether cause has been shown,and if so disqualify the member or alternate.4) After challenges for cause have been acted on, the complainant and the respondent,additionally, each may make a maximum <strong>of</strong> two peremptory challenges <strong>of</strong> members orTHE UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA 66
