The Chair declared themotion unanimously approved.LITIGATIONThis item was included in the agenda for the purpose of meeting with GeneralCounsel in executive session for a report on pending and possible litigation. No executivesession was held, and there was no report.The meeting adjourned for the day at 10:25 a.m.The meeting reconvened at 9:15 a.m. on June 23, 2004 in the same location.MINUTESRegent Everest moved approval of the minutes of the regular meeting held onMay 6-7, 2004 as printed and distributed prior to the meeting. The Chair declared themotion unanimously approved.THE UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMAREPORT OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNIVERSITYPresident Boren began his report by talking of the commitment the Regentsmade almost ten years ago to increase spending on the University Libraries.This commitment was kept in spite of lean budget years and sometimes withadditional help from The University of Oklahoma Foundation. The librarycollections have now passed the 4.5 million mark in terms of volumes, whichmakes us by far the largest library in the state—almost twice as large as anyother educational institution and larger than any community library system inthe state. OU is now in the top two in the big 12 in terms of ranking fornumber of volumes held and in the top 15 universities in the nation forincreased library spending over the last seven years.
