REGENTS’ POLICY MANUALSECTION 2—ACADEMICSFUNDING ENDOWED CHAIRS FROM PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE PLAN FUNDSAt the Health Sciences Center Campus, the transfer <strong>of</strong> pr<strong>of</strong>essional practice plan funds to theRegents’ Fund for the purpose <strong>of</strong> establishing and funding endowed chairs for the College <strong>of</strong> Medicine isauthorized.(RM, 12-13-79, pp. 15796-97; 3-29-00, p. 26909; 1-27-<strong>2004</strong>, p. 28924)2.2.6—REAPPOINTMENT AND NON-REAPPOINTMENTAction on the reappointment <strong>of</strong> tenure-track and renewable term appointees is initiated by theacademic unit through the respective dean to the Senior Vice President and Provost, President, and Board<strong>of</strong> Regents. Any final decision not to reappoint a faculty member shall be determined by the Board <strong>of</strong>Regents.The Norman Campus and Health Sciences Center Health SciencesFaculty Handbooks include policies onNOTIFICATION OF NON-REAPPOINTMENT OF TENURE-TRACK OR RENEWABLE TERMCONTRACT AND RESIGNATION.a) A faculty member with a regular appointment who is not to be reappointed for a secondyear <strong>of</strong> service must be so notified no later than March 1; or, if the first year <strong>of</strong>appointment terminates at a time other than the end <strong>of</strong> the academic year, not less thanthree months before the end <strong>of</strong> the appointment period.b) A faculty member with a regular appointment who is not to be reappointed to a third year<strong>of</strong> service must be so notified no later than December 15 <strong>of</strong> the second year <strong>of</strong>appointment; or, if the second year <strong>of</strong> appointment terminates at a time other than the end<strong>of</strong> the academic year, not less than six months before the end <strong>of</strong> the appointment period.c) A faculty member with a regular appointment who is not to be reappointed to a fourth orsubsequent year <strong>of</strong> service must be so notified no later than May 31 <strong>of</strong> the year precedingthe final year <strong>of</strong> appointment; or, in the case <strong>of</strong> an appointment ending at a time otherthan the end <strong>of</strong> the academic year, not less than twelve months before the end <strong>of</strong> theappointment period.d) All notifications <strong>of</strong> non-reappointment shall be given in writing by the Senior VicePresident and Provost.e) If the notification practices prescribed in the foregoing paragraphs <strong>of</strong> this section are notfollowed, the faculty member may appeal to the Faculty Appeals Board.(The text below appears in the Health Sciences Center Faculty Handbook.)Notifications <strong>of</strong> Non-Reappointment <strong>of</strong> Tenure-Track or Consecutive Term AppointmentAction on the non-reappointment <strong>of</strong> individuals having a tenure-track or consecutive term appointment isinitiated by the chair <strong>of</strong> the academic unit through the respective dean to the Senior Vice President andProvost, President, and Board <strong>of</strong> Regents.THE UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA 27
