Aaren Scientific Introduces New HPI Preloaded Intraocular Lens Injection SystemNew 3-step Injection System Designed to Combine Ease-of-Use with Consistent ResultsMay 27, 2013Ontario, California – U.S. IOL manufacturer, Aaren Scientific, today announced thelaunch of its HPI (High Precision Injection) preloaded intraocular lens (IOL) injectionsystem featuring Aaren’s glistening free Aaris EC-1RH PAL hydrophobic asphericlens . HPI is designed to deliver a hydrophobic lens consistently through incisions assmall as 2.0 mm, with unmatched reliability.A disposable IOL injection system like the patented HPI eliminates the risk ofcontamination that can occur with reusable instruments. With a sterile IOL alreadyloaded, there is no need to handle the lens prior to implantation. And with HPI, the IOL isalready correctly positioned in the integrated cartridge of the injector.“The key to HPI’s predictability is its ease-of-use. The simplified 3-step preparationprocess only takes about 10 seconds, which greatly reduces any chance of error,” saidRick Aguilera, President and CEO of Aaren Scientific. This 3-step readying process ismade possible by the system’s unique positioning clip that both secures the lens andallows for the easy introduction of viscoelastic. This reduces the process to: 1) Addviscoelastic. 2) Remove the lens positioning clip. 3) Close the cartridge and inject theIOL.Preloaded into each HPI system is an Aaren Scientific Aaris EC-1RH PALhydrophophic acrylic IOL. The EC-1RH PAL aspheric lens is heparin-coated, designedto prevent sticking and provide predictable coplanar lens injection. Aaren’s AdaptivOptics aspheric design offers patients improved contrast sensitivity, even in cases ofclinically-occurring lens decentration or tilt.In addition to Europe and Asia, HPI is now available throughout Central and SouthAmerica, in a power range of 4.0 to 34.0D, in 0.5 D increments. HPI models in the 4.0 to24.0D range are designed to take advantage of 2.0 mm incisions. HPI models withdiopters between 24.5D and 34.0D may utilize a 2.2 mm incision. Clear and yellowmodels are available.About Aaren ScientificAaren Scientific designs and manufactures a full line of high quality intraocular lensesand ophthalmic surgical products for cataract and refractive surgery.
