The Blue Ridge Soap Box DerbyYou might ask yourself what Soap Box Derby and<strong>Porsche</strong> have in common. Well, lots <strong>of</strong> car guysand gals have kick started their budding automotiveinterest with Soap Box Derby. Aside from that tenuousconnection, this year’s Blue Ridge Soap Box Derbyin Waynesboro was supported in a big way by G&WMotorwerkes Ltd., operated by our own Weldon &Phyllis Scrogham. They provided space in their facilityon Main Street in downtown Waynesboro to supportthe pre-race inspection and impound <strong>of</strong> the Soap BoxDerby cars. The Soap Box Derby racecourse uses thestreet in front <strong>of</strong> their business.by Dan GraffThe race in Waynesboro is an annual event. This yearthe racers were divided into two race groups, Stockand Super Stock. May 22nd was race day and featuredabout sixty competitors. At least two children <strong>of</strong><strong>Shenandoah</strong> members participated, Nathan Boody andJakob Graff. This is good clean car related fun for kidsand parents alike.
