In line with the <strong>UniCredit</strong>Group, the Bank implemented Economic Value A<strong>dd</strong>ed (EVA) as themain performance measure. EVA measures the profit contributionin excess of the cost of capital and is applied not only at the overallbank level but also is taken into consideration in individual loandecisions. EVA today is seen as a standard performance measure,which combines both growth via the development of risk weightedassets and thus the capital allocation needed and profitabilityenhancements as value drivers.The Bank consequently aims to ensure that the capital is investedin those business segments, product areas, and services wherethe highest a<strong>dd</strong>ed value can be generated. Transparency on valuecreation and/or value destruction is of utmost importance forachieving sustainable results.Divisional Business ModelThe <strong>UniCredit</strong> Group’s business model is based on specialisationin specific customer segments. For business activities such asinvestment banking, trading, international corporate banking or assetmanagement, it is clear that customer needs, service models, andmarket segments are more similar to each other across countriesthan the national market practice. However, we believe that this alsoapplies to retail banking in an environment of industrialised banking,while still taking into account local market specifics.In line with our mission, it is our main objective to meet everyclient’s personal needs in accordance with the idea that all businessis local through discretionary or standardised products.
