IntroductionPreface by the Chairman of the Supervisory BoardIn 2010, we will continue to justifythe trust placed in us by our existing- and through capitalization also new- investors. Our key goal will be toincrease customer satisfaction andlevel of revenues. To our valued shareholders:Despite a significantly altered business climate and adverse marketconditions, in 2009 UniCredit Banka Slovenija d.d. successfully pursued itsstrategy and achieved its goals. The Bank concluded the year as the fourthlargest bank in Slovenia. The economic and financial crisis required us to change the way wereacted externally, towards our clients, as well as internally, towards ourcolleagues. In this sense, we are fully aware that it is not enough to talk andwrite about changes; our stakeholders must feel these changes. Only thenour goal is achieved. For this reason also, in 2009, we again measured thesatisfaction of our clients with the services we provide. We were delightedto learn that the results placed us among the best in Slovenia as well as inEurope. With 95 points achieved, we again significantly exceeded customersatisfaction levels of other banks in Slovenia, which averaged 76 points. Inthe European framework, we ranked among the top five percent of banks. We are proud of these results and they motivate us further to accomplishthe ambitions set forth by our stakeholders: namely, our clients, investors, the local communities, where we operate, suppliers, and, of course, ourcolleagues. They bring our mission to life daily, thus helping us to becomethe best all-around bank. From operational, we shall now move to strategic thinking and optimizationof our business processes. Namely, we strive to achieve more and better ina shorter period of time and by doing so, to further increase the satisfactionof our clients; on the path to accomplishing their financial goals, we wouldlike to become their preferred financial advisor. We will thus continueto share our knowledge of financial markets - created by 170 researchanalysts in 15 countries - with our business partners as well as with theexisting and potential new clients. By doing so, we want to demonstratethat we are a reliable partner, whose financial advice is based on thoroughanalysis and specific know-how.In 2009, the UniCredit Group - currently present in 22 countries with10.000 branch offices and 170.000 employees - achieved a capitalincrease in the amount of 10 billion euros without state support andconsequently an 8,39 % level of Tier 1. This result is a major achievementfor our Group, as it means that through our work we were able to attractnew investors, who, by purchasing the Group's shares, fully trusted us.In 2010, we will continue to justify the trust placed in us by our existing- and through capitalization also new - investors. Our key goal will be toincrease customer satisfaction and level of revenues. Through our hardwork, we will prove to potential clients that we are the right place for theirfinancial needs. On the other hand, we will build even tighter relationshipswith existing clients, both in the retail segment as well as with corporateclients. Finally, we also want to support the real economy, primarilythrough an increased level of financing. Nevertheless, we will remaincautious in order also to protect existing clients. As we have seen in thepast, cautiousness has proven to be the right path. We know it will not beeasy to achieve the goals we have set for ourselves.
