Classroom assignments will beprovided at the conclusion <strong>of</strong> the opening ceremonies.The <strong>Wise</strong> <strong>Fire</strong> <strong>Department</strong> will again be sponsoring the dinner on Saturday night. <strong>Wise</strong> <strong>Regional</strong> Class DescriptionsMayday <strong>Fire</strong> Fighter Down Awareness 441-10045 September 11, 2010Description: A course designed to train basic firefighters through chief <strong>of</strong>ficers <strong>of</strong> thedepartment. At the completion <strong>of</strong> this course, the candidate will have a thoroughunderstanding <strong>of</strong> radio transmission etiquette, self rescue techniques, and SCBA airmanagement. The course is in compliance with NFPA 1001 Standards and was developed withthe student’s personal safety in mind. SCBA and PPE required for this course. A low impactpractical exercise is included in this course. Prerequisites: <strong>Fire</strong> Attack Essentials andIntermediate or currently enrolled in an approved <strong>Fire</strong>fighter I course with PPE and SCBAmodules completed. Equipment Required: Full PPE and SCBA with a spare bottle. Hours: 6SCBA Maze 441-10041 September 12, 2010Description: A course designed to utilize intensive practical activities to review all aspects <strong>of</strong>SCBA use including basic operations, search and rescue techniques, emergency breathingtechniques and practical evolutions. Equip. Req: Full turnout gear and SCBA Hours: 8 hoursNFA ISO 441-10042 September 11 & 12, 2010Description: Examines the Safety Officer’s role at emergency situations. Focus will be onoperations within the ICS.Prerequisites: None Equipment Required: None Hours: 12Book: NFA Incident Safety Officer $6.00.Crew Leader 441-11027 September 11, 12, 18 & 19, 2010Description: (32 Hour Attendance Course) A VDFP attendance training program designed toprovide an advanced training opportunity to those members that have completed <strong>Fire</strong>fighterII certification training or a minimum <strong>of</strong> four (4) modules <strong>of</strong> the VDFP “<strong>Fire</strong> Attack”series. The program presents basic leadership and operational concepts for the individualsthat might find themselves in the “Officers” seat <strong>of</strong> the apparatus as a temporary assignment.This program covers: Communications, Leadership, Coaching, Incident Scene Preparation,Building Construction, Response Scenarios, and Safety through case studies.Equipment Required: None. Hours: 32HTR Vehicle Rescue September 11 & 12, 2010Description: A course designed for <strong>Fire</strong> and Rescue personnel with basic and intermediateexperience in vehicle rescue. Classroom and practical evolutions will alert students to newhazards associated with today’s vehicles. Time will be spent on how the laws <strong>of</strong> physics affectthe vehicle and it’s passengers and the outcome this has on tactical considerations. Emphasisis placed on the development <strong>of</strong> dafe and pr<strong>of</strong>icient techniques for vehicle stabilization andlifting, and in the use <strong>of</strong> air bags and hydraulic systems.Prerequisites: It is recommended that the student have experience in the theory and use <strong>of</strong>basic hand tools. Student must be a minimum <strong>of</strong> 18 years <strong>of</strong> age.Equipment Required: Full turnout gear, secondary eye protection. Hours: 16 Book: VehicleRescue Student Manual $6.00.
