so formed as to have naturally both thetelescopic and microscopic vision, wouldit be to human advantage? No, thevision of immensity, were it continuallyspread before us, would be wearisome toeye and brain, and leave no field for investigationand the joy of finding somethingnew; and the constant vision of infinitesimalmatter and life would maralmost everything of beauty. As the natural eye is aided by thetelescope and the microscope, to beholdthe wonders of the material universe, sowe find the Word of God furnishingboth the telescope and the microscopeof divine truth. By the aid of the divinetelescope we have been enabled to viewGod's plan as a whole, and to see thatit contemplates the highest glory, perfectionand permanent establishment ofall things in the heavens and in the earth.By its aid we are enabled also to studythe order of God's plan, to estimatethe relative magnitudes of his variouspromises, to compute the distances intime, to observe the orderly motions inthe various parts of God's plan, to markthe periods of the revolution of eachpart, and also to discover the causes, bywhich such changes are brought about. You who have learned to use it, adjustyour telescope again, that you mayview the wondrous plan of God, which iswide as the material universe which hecreated, and includes in its gracious provisionsall of his creatures both heavenlyand earthly.Viewing it as a whole, we have seenits order to be, first, creation; secondly, discipline and development; thirdly, perfection, blessedness and eternal glory. We first find that Jehovah's direct creationbegan and ended in his Son, ourLord and Saviour. He was the firstand only begotten, and by him asJehovah's agent, is all the divine purposeto be accomplished (Rev. 1:8).
