with, which ultimately they must admit is beyond their braincapacity.Selfishness will continue to control the wealthy who hold the powerand advantage, and will blind them to common sense as well as tojustice, while SELF-PRESERVATION and an increasedknowledge of their rights, will nerve some men and inflame others,and the result of the BLESSINGS will, for a time, prove to beterrible--a time of trouble such as was not since there was a nation.And this, because man in a depraved condition cannot properly usethese blessings unguided. The "time of trouble" shall cease in duetime, when he who spake to the raging Sea of Galilee shall likewisewith authority command the raging sea of human passion, saying,"Peace be still!" The result shall be the same when this Prince ofPeace shall "stand up" in authority-- there shall be "a great calm."Then the raging and clashing elements shall recognize the authorityof "Jehovah's Anointed," "the glory of the Lord shall be revealed,and all flesh shall see it together," and in him "shall all the familiesof the earth be blessed."Then men will see that what they attributed to Evolution, naturaldevelopment and the smartness of the "Brain Age," was instead, theflashings of Jehovah's lightnings (Psa. 77:18) in "the day of hispreparation" for the blessing of mankind, and shall praise him Lordof all, exclaiming, "O the depth of the riches both of the knowledgeand wisdom of God. How unsearchable are his judgments, and hisways past finding out. But as yet only the saints can see, and onlythe wise in heavenly wisdom shall understand this, for "the secretof the Lord is with them that fear him." "He will show them hiscovenant." (Psa. 25:14.) Thanks be to God, that while generalknowledge has been increased, he has also ordered that his childrenneed "not be unfruitful in the knowledge of the Lord" and in theappreciation of his plans. And by this appreciation of his word andplans we are enabled to discern and withstand the vain philosophyand science, falsely so called, which contradicts the Word of God.R738 : page 7====================THINK IT NOT STRANGE."Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is totry you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: Butrejoice in as much as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings, thatwhen his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also withexceeding joy." 1 Pet. 4:12,13.Notwithstanding this exhortation very many of the beloved of theLord do think it "strange" when the fiery trials strike them,doubtless because they do not appreciate the Lord's design. Let uslook at it together.
