HIMax11 Configuring CommunicationReceiveTMO Monitoring time of PES 1 within which a correct response from PES2 must be received. Once the time has expired, safety-relatedcommunication is terminated.Production Rate Minimum interval between two data transmissions.Watchdog Time Maximum permissible duration of a PES RUN cycle (cycle time).Worst Case The worst case reaction time is the time between a change in aReaction Time physical input signal (in) of PES 1 and a reaction in thecorresponding output (out) of PES 2.11.2.5 Assigning safeethernet AddressesThe following points must be taken into account when assigning network addresses (IPaddresses) for safeethernet:• The addresses must be unique within the network used.• If safeethernet is connected to another network (company-internal LAN, etc.), makesure that no disturbances can occur. Potential sources of disturbances include:- The data traffic.- Coupling with other networks (e.g., Internet). In these cases, implement suitable measures to counteract against such disturbancesusing Ethernet switches, firewall and similar.11.2.6 Redundant safeethernet ConnectionsConnections between HIMax systems via safeethernet can be designed redundantly.• If two connections are identical, e.g., through both terminals of the processor module orcommunication module, they can be operated redundantly.• If two connections are not identical, e.g., if one terminal is used on the processormodule and one terminal on the communication module, one can be defined as thedefault connection and the other as a backup connection.Data traffic will only pass through the backup connection if the standard connection isinterrupted. When configuring the time parameters "ReceiveTMO", "ResendTMO" and "AckTMO", takethe slowest connection into account! The transfer rate must be considered as specified in the current manuals of the processorand communication modules in use.HI 801 003 D Rev.2.0 Page 63 of 70
