STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT<strong>St</strong>udent Honor Council (<strong>for</strong> the Florida Campus only)Entry-level SectionThe Honor CodeI understand and accept the <strong>St</strong>udent Code <strong>of</strong> Conduct and abide by its provisions. I pledge to assist increating a spirit <strong>of</strong> honor and integrity and uphold the high values <strong>of</strong> our institution and respectivepr<strong>of</strong>essions. I will display pr<strong>of</strong>essionalism in my actions and words on and <strong>of</strong>f campus.The Honor Council“Exemplifying Academic Excellence through Honor, Integrity and Accountability”Honor Council Mission <strong>St</strong>atement:The Honor Council ensures the ethical reputation <strong>for</strong> the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>St</strong>. <strong>Augustine</strong> is kept as the highest<strong>of</strong> standards in an atmosphere <strong>of</strong> trust, respect, integrity and dignity.Purpose <strong>of</strong> The Honor CouncilThe Honor Council is composed <strong>of</strong> elected representatives from the residential campus-based studentswho serve to perpetuate our academic community’s dedication to integrity, pr<strong>of</strong>essionalism and ethicalstandards as set <strong>for</strong>th by the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>St</strong>. <strong>Augustine</strong>’s <strong>St</strong>udent Code <strong>of</strong> Conduct. This assemblyrecognizes that each student member <strong>of</strong> our academic community must display a personal commitment toour impeccable values and honor code in order to maintain an atmosphere <strong>of</strong> trust and respect. The HonorCouncil functions by providing leadership to model pr<strong>of</strong>essional behavior, support and activelyperpetuate the Honor Council mission and provide a mechanism <strong>for</strong> responding to lapses in the Code <strong>of</strong>Conduct.Council <strong>St</strong>ructure:The Honor Council consists <strong>of</strong> at least:• 1 OT and 2 PT students who are elected per cohort/class beginning in the second term, and whoseterm continues <strong>for</strong> the duration <strong>of</strong> their tenure at the <strong>University</strong>.• 1 PT and 1 OT Faculty Ombudsman who is a non-voting member <strong>of</strong> the Council to serve as anadvisor to the reported student.• 1 Honor Council Advisor who is a non-voting Faculty member to guide and assist the Council onprocedural issues.The students <strong>of</strong> the Honor Council shall elect the Honor Council President, Vice President and Secretary.All Honor Council members are required to maintain the strictest confidentiality regarding Honor Councilinvestigations, hearings and sanctions. Any Honor Council member who is found guilty <strong>of</strong> a breach <strong>of</strong>confidentiality will be removed from the Council and may be subject to additional sanctions.Honor Code Infractions/Violation Forms:<strong>St</strong>udents should report infractions <strong>of</strong> the Honor Code and <strong>St</strong>udent Code <strong>of</strong> Conduct using anInfraction/Violation <strong>for</strong>m. Violation Forms to report such infractions are found in the Program DirectorsAdministrative Assistants <strong>of</strong>fices, in the <strong>St</strong>udents Services Office, in the student mailbox area, and in theAV carts <strong>of</strong> each classroom and lab. Forms are to be completed and returned to any <strong>of</strong> the ProgramDirectors Administrative Assistants who will <strong>for</strong>ward the <strong>for</strong>m to the Honor Council Advisor.Once a violation <strong>for</strong>m is received the Honor Council Advisor will review the allegation and discuss itwith the respective Program Director to determine if action is warranted and if so, where it should behandled. The matter may be <strong>for</strong>warded to the <strong>University</strong>’s Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Misconduct Committee, theHarassment Committee or to the <strong>St</strong>udent Honor Council.Allegations <strong>of</strong> an Honor Code infraction that are referred to the Honor Council will begin within three (3)academic calendar days <strong>of</strong> the <strong>for</strong>m being received by the Honor Council President. The Honor CouncilPresident within this time period will notify the student that has been reported and the appropriate<strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>St</strong>. <strong>Augustine</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>Health</strong> <strong>Sciences</strong> 76
