Entry-level Section<strong>St</strong>udents geographically distant from the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>St</strong>. <strong>Augustine</strong> campus may be allowed to appearbe<strong>for</strong>e the AAC meeting via phone conference solely at the discretion <strong>of</strong> the AAC committee.Should the student not agree to the decision <strong>of</strong> the Appeals Committee, the student has the right <strong>of</strong> anappeal to the President or appointed designee. The appeal must be submitted, in writing, within five (5)business days to the President. Upon request, the President or designee will review pertinent records;including a review <strong>of</strong> the process to ensure that it was correctly followed, and may meet with the AppealsCommittee and the student. The President or designee will follow the process as established in thisHandbook and ensure that the process is followed. If the final decision by the president results indismissal, the student will no longer be permitted to remain in any course.Dismissal policies will be implemented as fairly and equitably as possible considering all extenuatingcircumstances.Following the decision <strong>of</strong> the President or his/her designee, the student has the right to request bindingarbitration. This is the only remaining recourse <strong>for</strong> the student. The arbitrator will be applied from theAmerican Arbitrator Association or equivalent and the cost will be shared between the student and the<strong>University</strong>.Once a final appeals decision on academic dismissal has been rendered, the student does not have accessto the appeals process <strong>for</strong> this same issue again.Program Transfer PolicyAll transfer requests will be considered on an individual basis and are contingent upon space availability.Incoming <strong>St</strong>udentsIncoming (new) students who want to request transfer <strong>of</strong> their admission to another degree program mustmake a request in writing (email is acceptable) to the Director <strong>of</strong> Admissions at least six (6) weeks priorto the start <strong>of</strong> the trimester. To be considered, the student must have successfully completed all <strong>of</strong> therequired prerequisites <strong>for</strong> the program to which he/she is requesting transfer. The Director <strong>of</strong> Admissionswill notify the student via email <strong>of</strong> the outcome <strong>of</strong> the request. Please note: The start and completiondates <strong>of</strong> students who transfer between degree programs may be extended.First Term <strong>St</strong>udentsTransfer request <strong>for</strong>ms must be submitted to the student’s current program director by midterm <strong>of</strong> the firsttrimester. Transfer requests not received by the mid-term deadline will be considered during thesubsequent trimester. To be considered, the student must have successfully completed all <strong>of</strong> the requiredprerequisites <strong>for</strong> the program to which he/she is requesting transfer.Second Term (and beyond) <strong>St</strong>udentsTransfer request <strong>for</strong>ms must be submitted to the student’s current program director by midterm <strong>of</strong> thecurrent trimester.Transfer Request Process <strong>for</strong> Current <strong>St</strong>udentsIn order to be considered <strong>for</strong> a program transfer, a student must:• Be in good academic standing at the time <strong>of</strong> the request. Transfer requests will not be consideredfrom students who are currently remediating or retaking coursework, who are under review <strong>for</strong>appeal or pr<strong>of</strong>essional misconduct, or who are on academic probation. Transfer requests fromstudents who are on approved leave <strong>of</strong> absence will be considered.• Complete the Transfer Request <strong>for</strong>m located in the myUSA portal <strong>St</strong>udents tab.• Submit the completed <strong>for</strong>m to:1. His/her current program director2. The program director <strong>of</strong> the degree program to which the student is seeking transfer3. <strong>St</strong>udent Services <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>for</strong> final review by the Registrar and Director <strong>of</strong> Admissions.The Director <strong>of</strong> Admissions will approve only if the student has successfully completedall <strong>of</strong> the required prerequisites <strong>for</strong> the program to which he/she is requesting transfer.<strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>St</strong>. <strong>Augustine</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>Health</strong> <strong>Sciences</strong> 71
