Applies to all University of St Augustine for Health Sciences StudentsAccreditations and ApprovalsThe University is institutionally accredited by the Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education andTraining Council (DETC). The Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education and Training Councilis listed by the U.S. Department of Education as a nationally recognized accrediting agency, and is arecognized member of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). This nationalaccreditation helps ensure that the school has been carefully evaluated and has met nationally recognizedstandards of education. For more information contact The Distance Education and Training Council at1601 18 th Street, NW, Ste. 2, Washington, DC 20009, 202-234-5100.The Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) accredited the firstprofessional Physical Therapy program in October 1996. The Flexible Doctor of Physical Therapyprogram was accredited by CAPTE in October 2004. The DPT expansion program in San Marcos, CAwas accredited in April 2007. The University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy programs were re-accreditedin November 2011. Additional information regarding this accreditation is available by contacting theCommission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education, American Physical Therapy Association,1111 North Fairfax Street, Alexandria, VA 22314, 800-999-2782 ext.3240.The entry-level Occupational Therapy program was accredited with no deficiencies by the AccreditationCouncil for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) in April 1999 and re-accredited in April 2009.The California MOT program received accreditation from ACOTE in the fall of 2010. The Flex MOTprogram received approval from ACOTE in May of 2012. Graduates take the certification examinationadministered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). After successfulcompletion of this exam the individual will be an Occupational Therapist (OTR). In addition, most statesrequire licensure to practice. State licenses are usually based on this NBCOT certification. A felonyconviction may affect a graduate's ability to sit for the NBCOT examination or attain state licensure. The California campus location is comprised of three buildings, housingover 76,000 square feet of state-of-the-art laboratories, classrooms, library, a student wellness center andstudent areas.The University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences’ Florida Campus is located at 1 University Blvd., St.Augustine, FL 32086 on a twenty-six acre campus. In August, 2007 a new academic building that housesthe classrooms, labs, library, clinics and a student wellness center was opened. It features 75,000 squarefeet of educational space, eight (8) classrooms and five (5) laboratories.The University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences’ Texas campus is located at 5401 La Crosse Ave.,Austin, TX 78739. The campus will include two buildings specifically for health science education withstudent-centric learning spaces designed with state-of-the-art educational technology, library, laboratories,collaborative learning spaces, student health club and clinic totaling 73,536 sq. ft.University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences 2
