Applies to all <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>St</strong> <strong>Augustine</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>Health</strong> <strong>Sciences</strong> <strong>St</strong>udentsSTUDENT-FACULTY RELATIONSThe <strong>University</strong> does not condone dating and other such relationships between students and faculty and/orstudents and staff. Relationships between faculty and staff while less <strong>of</strong> a concern, are none the lesscovered by this policy.Clearly any <strong>of</strong> the relationships referred to above have the potential <strong>of</strong> creating issues <strong>of</strong> fairness andharassment that could bring discom<strong>for</strong>t and embarrassment to all involved including legal problems to the<strong>University</strong>.There<strong>for</strong>e, should any faculty, student and/or staff, find themselves in a position where there has becomean attraction they should immediately, individually or jointly, declare such an interest, if a student theyshould contact their Program Director.The Program Director or Director <strong>of</strong> Human Resources will advise and take whatever measures arenecessary to protect the student, faculty, staff and <strong>University</strong>. A faculty member may remain an instructorto that student but will not in any manner be able to grade, sit on any committee, etc., which may dealwith matters concerning the student.This policy while discouraging does not prevent such relationships but does require disclosure. Failure toso disclose will be considered a matter <strong>for</strong> disciplinary action.<strong>St</strong>udents may be employed part-time <strong>for</strong> babysitting, social functions, etc. by faculty and staff and it isacceptable <strong>for</strong> faculty, staff and students to attend parties sponsored by one <strong>of</strong> the groups or an individual<strong>of</strong> a group.CELL PHONE USE WHILE ON CAMPUS• Cell phones are not to be used during a class or lab session.• Ringer should be turned OFF during class or labs.• No text messaging allowed during class or labs.• Cell phone camera, audio or video recording may NOT be used during class or labs unlesspermission is given by instructor.• Cell phones are to be stored in book bags or other secure locations during exams or exam reviewsessions, and should be turned <strong>of</strong>f or ringer <strong>of</strong>f. Cell phones are not allowed to be in pockets orattached to pants or lying on tables.• If you MUST make an important call, or receive an important call during class or lab hours,please in<strong>for</strong>m and get permission from your instructor. Phone should be placed on vibrate.• When talking on cell phone in hallways, please be courteous and keep your voice down or moveto a quiet area.• No ringing <strong>of</strong> or speaking on cell phone is permitted in the library or quiet study zone areas.PARKING LOT AND STUDENT PARKING POLICY:The <strong>University</strong> is an independent organization, and as such, the property and parking lots are privateproperty. The operation and/or parking <strong>of</strong> any vehicle on <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>St</strong>. <strong>Augustine</strong> property is aprivilege, not a right. The university has the right to regulate the use <strong>of</strong> motor vehicles on its property <strong>for</strong>the good and safety <strong>of</strong> everyone.The <strong>University</strong> is not liable <strong>for</strong> break-ins or other damage to any vehicle, including student vehicles.Every ef<strong>for</strong>t will be made by <strong>University</strong> staff and personnel to ensure student safety whenever possible.Reports <strong>of</strong> damage to vehicles should be filed with local authorities, with a copy to the <strong>University</strong> <strong>St</strong>udentServices Office.For additional in<strong>for</strong>mation please refer to Entry-level <strong>St</strong>udent section pages 64-67 or Distance Education<strong>St</strong>udent section on page 115.<strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>St</strong>. <strong>Augustine</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>Health</strong> <strong>Sciences</strong> 42
