Applies to all <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>St</strong> <strong>Augustine</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>Health</strong> <strong>Sciences</strong> <strong>St</strong>udentsAll instances <strong>of</strong> rape/sexual <strong>of</strong>fenses occurring on campus are to be reported immediately to 911 and afterreceiving appropriate emergency care, to the <strong>St</strong>udent Service <strong>of</strong>fice during business hours, to the securityguard after business hours and to the police. The victim will be assisted until local police arrive. At thattime, the President will be notified <strong>of</strong> the incident. The local police will handle all aspects <strong>of</strong> theinvestigation into the alleged attack.If other types <strong>of</strong> improprieties occur, these should be reported immediately to the <strong>St</strong>udent Services Office.At this time, a report <strong>of</strong> the incident will be written and statements taken.EMERGENCY AND SAFETY PROCEDURESEmergency and safety procedures are contained in the <strong>University</strong> Emergency Action Plan Manual. Acopy <strong>of</strong> this Manual is available to students in the myUSA portal.Medical Emergency: Call 911 immediately and render first aid as able. <strong>St</strong>ay with the individual untilemergency services arrive. When a student is injured, he/she should complete a <strong>St</strong>udent Incident Report<strong>for</strong>m found in the myUSA portal <strong>St</strong>udents tab, and file this <strong>for</strong>m, together with any other <strong>for</strong>ms required,with his/her health insurance provider. A copy <strong>of</strong> the Report <strong>for</strong>m should also be provided to the<strong>University</strong> <strong>St</strong>udent Services Office (fax # 904-826-0085).<strong>St</strong>ructural Emergency: Upon hearing an alarm, students will follow the posted evacuation proceduresfollowing exit signs that are displayed. <strong>St</strong>ay a safe distance from the building until emergency servicesarrive.Weather Emergency: In the event <strong>of</strong> a natural disaster, such as a hurricane or earthquake evacuation,students (and family members) are asked to monitor the <strong>University</strong> website <strong>for</strong> any cancellation or re-startdates and times. Further in<strong>for</strong>mation will be given by faculty and/or staff at the time <strong>of</strong> the emergency.In<strong>for</strong>mation about reopening will also be given via the <strong>University</strong> voice mail system by calling the mainnumber: 800-241-1027.SAFETY ON CAMPUSCertain safeguards are in place to ensure as safe <strong>of</strong> an environment as possible. These safety featuresinclude:• In case <strong>of</strong> an emergency all students will be notified via school messenger.• Exterior building doors are locked and access is available only to those with appropriate cardaccess. (Cali<strong>for</strong>nia and Texas Campuses only)• Talk-A-Phones are located throughout the parking lots and university grounds with emergencyphones.• A security guard is available on campus after 5 pm and designated weekends when the campus isopen <strong>for</strong> student access.• All faculty, staff, and students are expected to wear name tags at all times.• All visitors must report to the administration building (or the security guard desk after hours) <strong>for</strong>permission to enter the campus, to receive a visitor’s badge, and to be escorted as appropriate bya campus employee/security guard.• Emergency contacts and evacuation plans are posted in all classrooms and student/employeemeeting areas. Telephones are available in all classrooms.• To ensure your safety on campus, be personally responsible by:- Being alert to unsafe situations and reporting them immediately to university employees.- Keeping the exterior doors closed and locked (do not prop open).- Do not allow non-university individuals to enter the building with you.- Report lost/stolen card access name badges IMMEDIATELY to the universityreceptionist or <strong>St</strong>udent Services <strong>of</strong>fice.- Do not walk to your car alone in the dark. Use the "buddy system", especially when youfeel your personal safety may be threatened.
