Applies to all <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>St</strong> <strong>Augustine</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>Health</strong> <strong>Sciences</strong> <strong>St</strong>udents<strong>St</strong>udent Attendance at Pr<strong>of</strong>essional ConferencesAll entry-level students are required to attend at least one (1) pr<strong>of</strong>essional conference during theirrespective curriculum. The value <strong>of</strong> this required attendance is greater if students wait until they are in the3 rd trimester. Dual degree seeking students are required to attend one (1) PT and one (1) OT pr<strong>of</strong>essionalconference during their curriculum. It is recommended they go to an OT conference while in the MOTcurriculum and a PT conference while in the DPT curriculum. Full-time DPT students should completethis requirement be<strong>for</strong>e the 7 th trimester due to the nature <strong>of</strong> weekend seminars taught in that trimester.<strong>St</strong>udents will notify their program director or an assigned faculty member <strong>of</strong> their intent to attend aparticular conference. The student will then be granted an excused absence <strong>for</strong> the date(s) missed. Thiswill not exceed two (2) days (usually a Friday or a Thursday and Friday excused absence). It is at thediscretion <strong>of</strong> each faculty member on how to disseminate the in<strong>for</strong>mation from the missed classsession(s). The student is responsible <strong>for</strong> all missed class material and assignments. <strong>St</strong>udents are alsoresponsible <strong>for</strong> conference costs including registration, hotel, and transportation expenses. Upontheir return, students are required to provide pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong> attendance at the conference to the Program Directoror the assigned faculty member.Pr<strong>of</strong>essional conferences may include state or national meetings such as CPTA, TPTA or FPTAconferences, APTA Combined Sections, APTA Scientific Meeting and Exposition, FOTA or COTAconferences, AOTA conferences or others as approved by the Program Director. Include MOPAconferences.PROFESSIONAL MISCONDUCTPr<strong>of</strong>essional behavior is expected on campus at all times. The first incidence <strong>of</strong> unpr<strong>of</strong>essional behavior(other than absences and tardiness described above) will result in a warning letter to the student with acopy to his/her file. A second incidence will result in a referral to the <strong>St</strong>udent Honor Council orPr<strong>of</strong>essional Misconduct Committee with a recommendation that the final grade in the course bereduced by 5-10%.Although not inclusive, the following list <strong>of</strong> misconduct behaviors provides examples <strong>of</strong> acts that may besubject to disciplinary action:1. Cheating, plagiarism, falsification <strong>of</strong> records, unauthorized possession <strong>of</strong> examinations or parts<strong>of</strong> examinations, intimidation, and any other actions that may affect the evaluation <strong>of</strong> a student'sacademic per<strong>for</strong>mance or achievement. This includes attempting to engage in such acts, assistingothers in any such acts, and failure to report such acts.2. Intentional or unintentional disruption <strong>of</strong> teaching, research, administration, and disciplinaryproceedings or other institutional activities.3. Physical and/or mental abuse <strong>of</strong> any person or any <strong>for</strong>m <strong>of</strong> harassment as defined under Non-Discrimination and Harassment Policy, see page 39.4. Failure to follow directives <strong>of</strong> authorized <strong>University</strong> personnel acting in the per<strong>for</strong>mance <strong>of</strong> theirduties.5. Misuse or damage <strong>of</strong> <strong>University</strong> property to include, but not limited to computer equipment, labequipment, classroom furnishings/equipment, telephones, fire alarms, fire equipment, andsecurity systems.6. Destruction, unauthorized removal, theft, defacement, or possession <strong>of</strong> property owned by the<strong>University</strong>, including but not limited to trees and shrubbery, or property leased to or controlledby the <strong>University</strong>.7. Littering on <strong>University</strong> property.8. Violence or the threat <strong>of</strong> violence including possession or use <strong>of</strong> firearms, fireworks, explosives,incendiary devices, or other weapons <strong>of</strong> any description including air rifles and pistols on the<strong>University</strong> campus.9.
