We are available to advise students in areas such as;• course selection option• timing <strong>of</strong> certification activities with degree requirements• sequence <strong>of</strong> course completion• access to resources including libraryFor other questions, we recommend you note the name <strong>of</strong> your assigned faculty advisor and contact thatperson first.CERTIFICATIONIf you plan to complete a certification track as part <strong>of</strong> your degree program, the following in<strong>for</strong>mationwill outline each <strong>of</strong> the seminars required and suggested order <strong>of</strong> completion.Examination Policy <strong>for</strong> Certification• Certification ExamsThe Certification Examination consists <strong>of</strong> a 5.5 hour comprehensive written examination plusoral and practical examinations in each <strong>of</strong> the prerequisite courses. All students are graded ineach section as either pass, questionable, or fail.You will need to make up any portion <strong>of</strong> the exam that you did not meet the minimum passingscore.Written and OralA minimum <strong>of</strong> 70% pr<strong>of</strong>iciency is required on all portions <strong>of</strong> the written and oral examinations.PracticalA minimum <strong>of</strong> 80% pr<strong>of</strong>iciency is required on all practical portions <strong>of</strong> the CertificationExamination. The practical examinations require the student to meet both safety and technicalskill per<strong>for</strong>mance competencies. Safety requirements must be met at a 100% competency level.If a student does not per<strong>for</strong>m in a safe manner, the student will fail the practical examination; ifthe student earns less than 80% on technical per<strong>for</strong>mance, the student will fail the practicalexamination.• RetakesIf it is necessary to retake any area <strong>of</strong> the exam, there are several choices available to you.Retake arrangements are made with Lori Hankins, Director <strong>of</strong> Continuing Pr<strong>of</strong>essionalEducation: (904) 826-0084 x203.If you have two (2) or more incompletes you need to come to the Florida campus <strong>for</strong> the retakeexam. If you have less than 2 incompletes, you may retake at a certification, meet with theinstructor at his or her city <strong>of</strong> residence, or at any place where that instructor is traveling to teacha course. Most <strong>of</strong> our instructors travel nationwide, and if you make arrangements with the<strong>University</strong> in advance, we can make arrangements <strong>for</strong> you.If you have an incomplete in a written exam, you may take that written exam using a locallibrarian as your proctor.• Certification <strong>for</strong> CreditOnce a DPT student successfully completes all portions <strong>of</strong> the certification exam, three (3)credits will be awarded in the trimester in which the student started the examination process.<strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>St</strong>. <strong>Augustine</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>Health</strong> <strong>Sciences</strong> 165
