Transitional Doctor <strong>of</strong> Physical Therapy• If the student does not complete at least five (5) credits within one (1) year <strong>of</strong> being placed oninactive status, he/she will be referred to the Progression Committee <strong>for</strong> possible dismissalfrom the program.• A student may be placed on inactive status only once during enrollment in the t-DPTprogram. The student will be dismissed from the program if he/she fails to meet the yearlyrequirements <strong>for</strong> coursework progression a second time.5. Good Academic <strong>St</strong>anding:• To remain in good academic standing a student must:a. maintain a 2.25 GPA and 2.50 <strong>for</strong> students accepted into the program after January 1,<strong>2012</strong> (see Probation in<strong>for</strong>mation below)b. not earn a grade below a C (See Dismissal section)c. be in compliance with the <strong>University</strong> Academic Integrity Policy which stipulates thatall academic work represents the individual work <strong>of</strong> the stated author. Input andassistance from others must always be appropriate and fully acknowledged6. Probation:• A student who makes a grade <strong>of</strong> “D” in any course will be placed on academic probation andmust undergo remediation and repeat the course <strong>for</strong> credit. A remediation plan must bedeveloped by the student and will be monitored by the Program Director.a. When retaking the course, the student must receive a grade <strong>of</strong> “C” in order to progressacademically.b. If the student receives a grade below a “C” on retake, the student will bedismissed.c. When the grade <strong>of</strong> “C” or higher, is achieved on retake, the student will be taken <strong>of</strong>fAcademic Probation if his/her GPA is 2.25 or 2.50 <strong>for</strong> students accepted into theprogram after January 1, <strong>2012</strong>.• If the GPA <strong>of</strong> a student falls below the 2.25 or 2.50 <strong>for</strong> students accepted into the programafter January 1, <strong>2012</strong>, the student will be placed on academic probation by the ProgramDirector.• Following being placed on probation, the student will be required to submit an academicstudy plan to the Program Director to explain how he/she plans to elevate the GPA to 2.25 or2.50 <strong>for</strong> students accepted into the program after January 1, <strong>2012</strong>. The Advance <strong>St</strong>udiesProgression Committee will review all study plans.• The student will be expected to elevate his/her GPA to 2.25 or 2.50 <strong>for</strong> students accepted intothe program after January 1, <strong>2012</strong> or above within one (1) calendar year. If a student fails toelevate his/her GPA to 2.25 or 2.50 <strong>for</strong> students accepted into the program after January 1,<strong>2012</strong> or above, the student’s record will be referred to the Advanced <strong>St</strong>udies ProgressionCommittee <strong>for</strong> review and possible dismissal from the program.• A student will not be permitted to progress to the final stage <strong>of</strong> the t-DPT program while onprobation. Remedial coursework may be necessary to increase the GPA prior to starting thefinal project. The final stage <strong>for</strong> the t-DPT program is Capstone I and II or the ClinicalResidency Course.7. Dismissal:• If a student does not register <strong>for</strong> one (1) course within twelve (12) weeks after <strong>of</strong>ficialacceptance into the program, the Program Director will notify the Registrar to send thestudent a notice <strong>of</strong> dismissal.• Based on recommendations <strong>of</strong> the Advanced <strong>St</strong>udies Progression Committee, the studentmay be dismissed from t-DPT Program when a student:a. Fails to maintain active status.b. Does not return to active status after an approved leave <strong>of</strong> absence period.c. Receives a grade <strong>of</strong> “F” in any Course.d.
