AImaging System of Imager5003 ofZoller+FröhlichFigure A.l shows schematically the principle of the imaging system of the laser scanner adapted from[Fröhlich et al., 2000]. The spot laser system in the lower part consists of a laser head, receiver optics, andan avalanche photodiode (APD). The receiver optics cause that the reflected laser lightis focussed towardsthe APD. The deflection unit in the upper part consists of a mirror and of a motor for high-speed rotations. The whole system additionally rotates about a vertical axis to capturethe environment in 3D.-azimuth deflectionlaser beam\mirror 4elevation-«deflectionreflectedlaser light38cmdeflection unitspot laser systemlaser head25cmFigure A.l: Imaging System adaptedfrom [Fröhlich et al, 2000].
