Assessment should be carried out by a vocationally competentassessor qualified to make assessment decisions. This means that the assessor must becapable of carrying out the full requirements within the competency of this unit.The current resuscitation council guidelines should always be referred to when assessing thisqualification.1. Understand the role of thepaediatric first aider.1.1. Identify the responsibilities of apaediatric first aider.1.2. Describe how to minimise therisk of infection to self andothers.1.3. Describe suitable first aidequipment, including personalprotection, and how it is usedappropriately.1.4. Identify what informationneeds to be included in anaccident report/incident record,and how to record it.1.5.
