Rs.8500/-(2 nd Sem.)Special FeaturesThe Department of Botanical and Environmental <strong>Sc</strong>iences came into existence in 1990.Since then the department has made rapid strides in both teaching and research. It has emergedas one of the premier departments not only of the <strong>University</strong> but has made its mark at theNational and International levels. The department is recognized under DST-FIST and DRS-UGCprogrammes. The research activities of the department focus on the thrust areas ofEnvironmental Mutagenesis, Genetic Toxicology, Environmental Analysis, Computer Applicationsin Botany and Ecology, Vermitechnology, Plant Physiology, Plant Molecular Biology and TissueCulture. The faculty of the department runs research projects funded by CSIR, UGC, DST, andDBT. Several faculty members have exposure to foreign research laboratories in the form of postdoctoral and visiting scientists. The faculty has also developed collaboration with Indian andForeign scientists who visit from time to time to deliver lectures on various aspects of Botanyand Environment. The department also organizes refresher courses, nationalconferences/symposia and workshops. The Department has a Herbarium, Botanical Garden of 25acres, Green House, Herbal Garden, Vermitechnology Unit, Computer Lab., Teaching andResearch Labs, GC-MS, IRGA, Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer, Fluorescent Microscope,Thermo-cycler, ELISA Reader, Stereomicroscopes, UV-VIS Spectrophotometer, GelDocumentation System, Flame Photometer and other facilities to carry out latest research in theadvancing frontiers of Botanical and Environmental <strong>Sc</strong>iences. The students carry out research atPh.D. level in the Department._________
