The New Generation Race - For the Next Generation of Ski Racers
This unique event for young ski racers was established in 2007 by a leading group of the
Salzburg Ski Association, the District of Kaprun, the Zell am See/Kaprun Tourism and the
Maiskogel Lift Company. The main interest is to support young skiers born in 1997 and in
1998 to become well trained allrounders.
The selected teams exercise in small groups. Slalom and Super-G train in a specially prepared
training area on the Maiskogel Mountain in the centre of Kaprun. The main intention is to
increase their ability of high speed skiing and of handling spontaneous jumps. The Slalom
training is part of a technical ski education for the Super-Combined.
The highlight after a week of practise is a Super-Combined for the individual and for teams.
The first 5 racers and 3 teams receive the Maiskogeltrophy as an award and the best 10
teams are financially supported. The event is sponsored by the private and public economy of
Zell am See and Kaprun.

Regulations:
1. “The New Generation Race” is an Austrian National Children’s Team Competition where
international teams participate in. The Super-Combined consists of a Super-G and a
Slalom and each team is made up of 4 girls and 4 boys.
2. Selected teams are:
Austrian Ski Associations: Vorarlberg, Tirol, Salzburg, Kärnten, Oberösterreich,
Steiermark, Niederösterreich, Wien, Burgenland.
International Teams: Bayern (GER), Baden Württemberg (GER), Switzerland,
Liechtenstein, Italy, Slovenia, Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic, and further Teams
from: Great Britain, Netherlands, Poland, Ireland, Türkei etc.
3. The rules of the ÖWO (Austrian Competition Rules) are valid.
4. Technical data:
SUPER-G: vertical drop: 220 metres to 350 metres, number of direction changes: 8 – 12
% of vertical drop.
SLALOM: 1 run, vertical drop: 120 metres to 160 metres, number of directions 33-38%
of vertical drop, at least 1 delayed gate (max. 15 metres), 1-2 verticals, 3-5 hairpins,
maximum distance from turning gate to turning gate is 10 metres.
5. Individual and team competition:
Team competition: The teams challenge in a Super-G and Slalom. The first competition
is the Super-G. Team members who are dq or dnf earn the time of the slowest racer plus
a penalty time of 1 sec in Super-G. This enables each skier to participate in the Slalom.
All racers start again in the Slalom. Each racer who is dq or dnf gets then a penalty time
of 0,5 sec. The results of the 3 fastest boys and girls in the Super-G and Slalom count
for the team competition. The 3 best teams are awarded at the prize giving ceremony.
Individual competition:
The racetime of Super-G and Slalom will be added. Runners that dnf or are dq either in
Super-G or Slalom are not valued in the results. The best 5 racers are awarded at the
prize giving ceremony.
Financial support:
The best 10 teams get financially benefited.
6. Starting order:
Starting order for Super-G is selected by the team captains. The starting order for the
Slalom run is determined by the result list of the Super-G run except for the first 30
places.
For the first 30 places the starting order is as follows:
the 30th in the result list starts 1st
the 29th in the result list starts 2nd
the 1st in the result list starts 30th
from the 31st onward according to the result list of the Super-G run.
If more than one competitor is ranked 30th, the competitor with the lowest start number
will start first.

7. Inscription:
Only invited teams by the Salzburg Ski Association are allowed to take part.
8. Protest:
Protest according to the ÖWO.
9. Rules:
The rules of the ÖWO are valid.
10. Insurance:
The teams are responsible for the insurance of each racer
11. Training:
The Super-G training is organised by the Salzburg Ski Association. All material for
training (Poles) will be provided.
12. Changes:
Any changes will be announced at the Team Captain Meeting.

Entries:
For inscription use the given form until October 30 th, 2012. Please choose one of the given
variants. This also includes hotel with half board, lift tickets and the entry fee.
Only invited teams can participate. A final registration of runners has to be fixed at the 3 rd
Team Captain Meeting on Thursday, December 20 th, 2012. Please list your best runners first.

Payments:
Having done your inscription you have to pay € 500, -- in advance. The remaining sum is due
to your 1 st Team Captain Meeting.
