The road intersects the Richardson Highway <strong>and</strong> is the main entry point for troopactivities within 6 major training areas. This section of road is characterized by relatively flat slopes thatare poorly drained with two significant erosion features <strong>and</strong> has received significant impacts from Strykertraffic. This project will improve access <strong>and</strong> control erosion by improving drainage through grading, reestablishingditches <strong>and</strong> the installation of geotextile <strong>and</strong> fill material.This project will improve a 5000 m section of an existing road leading into the Buffalo Drop Zone off of33 Mile Loop Road. This road is the main route for troop activities within 6 major training areas. Thissection of road is characterized by long open flat portions with soft areas that are insufficiently drained<strong>and</strong> has received significant impacts from Stryker traffic. This project will improve access <strong>and</strong> control erosion by improving drainage throughgrading, re-establishing ditches <strong>and</strong> the installation of geotextile, fill material <strong>and</strong> water bars.This project will improve a 3000 m section of an existing road. Windy Ridge Road is a major route fortroop activities associated with the Texas <strong>and</strong> Washington Impact Ranges. This road is characterized byrill erosion, poor drainage <strong>and</strong> wind erosion <strong>and</strong> has received significant impacts from Stryker traffic.This project will extend the length of improvements from Windy Ridge Road Upgrade <strong>and</strong> Repair PH 1will improve access <strong>and</strong> control erosion by improving drainage through grading, re-establishing ditches<strong>and</strong> the installation of geotextile, fill material <strong>and</strong> water bars.This project will provide for effect vegetation management within the Buffalo Drop Zone through a 12-year rotational burning cycle, with burning taking place on years 1 <strong>and</strong> 7. Maintaining safe drop zonecondition requires the removal of woody vegetation in favor of native grasses. Burning will be combinedwith rotational mowing to remove live stem <strong>and</strong> woody debris from within the drop zone boundaries. Thisproject will provide for the propagation of native grasses by improving soil conditions through theintroduction of burn residue <strong>and</strong> will maintain effective plant based erosion control by leaving rootmasses intact.This project will provide for effect vegetation management within the Buffalo Drop Zone through a 12-year rotational mowing cycle, with mowing taking place on years 4 <strong>and</strong> 10. Maintaining safe drop zonecondition requires the removal of woody vegetation in favor of native grasses. Mowing will be combinedwith rotational burning to remove live stem <strong>and</strong> woody debris from within the drop zone boundaries.
