Table 4.25 shows the distribution of the women by their intention to usein the future, according to the number of living children. Two out of three (66 percent) currently married nonusers say that they intend to use family planningin the future; 42 percent intend to use within the next 12 months, 23 percent intend to use later, and 1 percentwere not sure when they would start using contraception. Twenty-nine percent of nonusers said that they didnot intend to practice family planning in the future, while 4 percent were unsure. The proportion intending to use family planning peaks at 79 percent among nonusers with one child. The timing of the intention to use also varies with the number of living children. For example, the proportionwho intend to use within the next 12 months is considerably lower among childless nonusers than amongthose with children, while the proportion who intend to use after 12 months is lower among women with fouror more children. Among previous users of contraception, one in two women intends to use a method in thenext 12 months, compared to one in three among the never users.63
