This report summarizes the findings of the 1993-94 Bangladesh Demographic and Health Survey (BDHS)conducted by Mitra and Associates under the authority of the National Institute of Population Research and Training(NIPORT) under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Bangladesh. Macro International Inc.provided technical assistance. Funding was provided by the U.S. Agency for International Development office m Dhaka(USAID/Bangladesh) and the Government of Bangladesh.The BDHS is part of the worldwide Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) program, which is designed tocollect data on fertility, family planning, and maternal and child health.
