4MembershipMembership: At the San Jacinto <strong>YMCA</strong>,membership means friendship. TheSan Jacinto <strong>YMCA</strong> believes that weall need a place to belong. When youbecome a member of the <strong>YMCA</strong>, youwill find programs and activities forevery member of the family. Memberscan be part of the broader <strong>YMCA</strong>mission by working together to solvelocal problems, reaching out to others,volunteering or fund-raising.Belonging to the San Jacinto <strong>YMCA</strong>gives members an opportunity tostrengthen themselves, their familiesand their communities. The San Jacinto<strong>YMCA</strong> offers memberships to families,as well as individuals, single-parentfamilies, seniors and youth. All optionsfeature easy payment plans and nocontracts. Your membership fee couldbe reduced based on your totalhousehold income.The Citywide option lets membersparticipate at any <strong>YMCA</strong> in the GreaterHouston Area. These membershipsinclude full use of the facility, freefitness classes, reduced fees on programsand more. The <strong>YMCA</strong> is a membershiporganization and, therefore, allparticipants must be members.We offer two options for membershipto the <strong>YMCA</strong>.ChildWatch & Kids Club Hours:Ages: 6 wks-12 yrs (Free for Members)We offer a safe, fun, interactiveenvironment for your children while youenjoy the <strong>YMCA</strong> facilities. Membership5Open Doors Scholarship Program:The <strong>YMCA</strong> is community-based andbelieves that its programs and servicesshould be available to everyoneregardless of age, background, abilityor income. That’s why the <strong>YMCA</strong> offersan OPEN DOORS program, a slidingfee scale that is designed to fit yourindividual financial situation.Facility Age Requirements: Gymnasiumand Pool. Ages 12 and up unlessaccompanied by an adult.Wellness Center: Youth ages 8-11 areencouraged to use our Wellness Centerwhen accompanied by an adult andafter successfully completing CardioCard Training. Youth ages 12-15 areencouraged to use our Wellness Centerafter successfully completing TeenStrength Training. No one under the ageof 8 is allowed in the Wellness Center atany time.txhn18Adult Locker Rooms: Children underthe age of 16 are not allowed in theadult locker rooms. Please use theboys and girls changing rooms for allchildren under the age of 16.Lockers: Lockers are available forday use. You must supply your ownlock and may not leave articlesin these lockers overnight. Smallcombination lockers are available torent for a $4 monthly fee,medium-size lockers for $5 andlarge-size for a $10 monthly fee.Behavior Policies: The San JacintoFamily <strong>YMCA</strong>, founded onJudeo-Christian principles, prohibitsbehavior that is inappropriate inrelation to profanity and abusivelanguage or behavior, attire,smoking, consumption of alcohol,removal of any <strong>YMCA</strong> propertyor criminal conduct. Any memberor guest who violates the <strong>YMCA</strong>’sguidelines is subject to suspension orloss of membership.Attire: Athletic shoes and shirtsmust be worn during exercise in allareas of the facility. Street shoes arenot permitted on any wood floors.Proper swimsuits must be worn whenusing the pool. Family-appropriateattire is greatly appreciated.

Youth Sports7The <strong>YMCA</strong> believes that youth sports programsencourage and promote healthy and strong kids,families and communities by placing a priorityon family involvement, healthy competitionrather than rivalry, the value of participationover winning, team building as well as individualdevelopment, a positive self-image and a senseof fair play and mutual respect for others. Caringadult coaches and volunteers create an asset-richenvironment in which children learn and practicethe core values of responsibility, honesty, respect,faith and caring. In response to thisneed, the <strong>YMCA</strong> has developed several activitiesto encourage and motivate older adults to takeaction and get involved. <strong>YMCA</strong> programs for olderadults strengthen the whole person.SilverSneakers® 1: The preventativeSilverSneakers® exercise programenhances the quality of life for matureadults across the country. Health CareDimensions (HCD) developed theSilverSneakers® Fitness Program 10 yearsago, and it has since grown into thelargest senior-focused exercise programin the United States. 12Health & WellnessThe <strong>YMCA</strong> Health and Wellness programs aredevelopmentally appropriate and help peopleat any stage of life build positive health habits.Participation in <strong>YMCA</strong> programs offers youth andadults opportunities for friendship and community,a sense of well-being, increased self-confidenceand improved mental abilities.Fitness Orientation: <strong>YMCA</strong> FitnessOrientation is offered at no additionalcost for members who would benefitfrom the support from a wellnesscoach. The wellness coach is availableto provide personalized assistance toget you started with physical activityand help you make a commitment tostay healthy for a lifetime. During yourone-hour visit, you will tour the wellnessfacility, get an orientation on all fitnessequipment, and go through a shortfitness assessment that includes bloodpressure testing, BMI, cardio testing andone-on-one counseling.Group Exercise: We offer more than 50aerobics classes per week, including thefollowing:Yoga • Indoor Cycling • Step • BosuWe have also added “Zumba” to ourAerobics Schedule!
