In 1966, Bob began hiscareer by completing <strong>Penta</strong>’s Electronics program. Hethen furthered his education by earning a degree inelectrical engineering technology at the <strong>Penta</strong> TechnicalInstitute (now known as Owens Community College). Today,after enjoying a very successful career, he has returned to <strong>Penta</strong>and is currently working part-time as a diversified industrial trainer inthe Adult Education Division.“I want to pass on my experiences in the electrical field and treat students as individualswho have great possibilities in the real world,” says Bob.Bob served in the United States Army Reserves and gained additional experiencein the area of electronics. He was stationed at The University of Toledo andworked as a battalion communication chief. He was responsible for themaintenance of radio and telephone networks.Bob’s high school, college and military training, prepared him well forhis job with Lucas County. In 1972, he began working at the MaumeeRiver Wastewater Treatment Plant. He first worked as a maintenanceoperator and then advanced to plant electrician in which he supervisedthe entire electrical department.Bob worked for Lucas County for 31 years. During his last few years, heworked as a safety trainer for the County as well as for the AmericanFederation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). He hasprovided training to AFSCME members all over the country.Bob’s experience as a trainer has also provided him with the opportunity toteach part-time at Owens Community College in the areas of OccupationalSafety and Health Administration (OSHA) training, electrical training andskilled trades instruction.Bob believes training and skills play a tremendous role in his life. He has earned dozensof certifications in the areas of electrical, wastewater, safety and health. Even today, asa part-time retiree, Bob continues his education by keeping current with his certifications.Over the years, Bob has been active in the community and in professional organizations.He is a past member of the Maumee Jaycees and coached baseball for more than 10 yearsin the Maumee Pony Colt Division. Professionally, Bob has served as chairman, vicechairman, secretary, and treasurer of the Northwest Section of the Ohio Water PollutionControl Federation.Bob has been married to Rita for 36 years. Jennifer L. (Byington) WilkinsFor Jennifer Wilkins, <strong>Penta</strong> has provided her with theskills and training for excellent job opportunities.Jennifer is proud of her <strong>Penta</strong> education andbelieves her training has helped her achieve success inher career. “If it wasn’t for <strong>Penta</strong>, I would not havereceived the opportunities and the financial gain in myearly career,” says Jennifer.After completing the Word Processing program at <strong>Penta</strong> andgraduating from Oak Harbor in 1991, Jennifer attended Terra Community College andat the same time worked as a records manager for First Energy at the Davis-BesseNuclear Power Plant.In 1993, Jennifer accepted a new position with Challenger Motor Freight in thearea of accounting. In this position she gained extensive experience processing,collecting and coding data for a company with over 200 employees.After leaving Challenger Motor Freight due the closure of the company,Jennifer pursued a career in the public sector. In 1999, she began workingfor the Ottawa County Clerk of Courts where she gained a wealth ofexperience in the management of the court system.In 2001, Jennifer was hired by the Ottawa County Common PleasCourt and became the assistant court administrator/assignmentcommissioner for Judges Moon and Giesler and Magistrate Winters.Jennifer’s eight-year experience in the Common Pleas Court provided asolid foundation in preparation for her current position. In 2007, afteradvancing to the level of chief deputy/office administrator, Jennifer wasappointed by Governor Ted Strickland as the Clerk of Courts, one of the toplevel government positions in Ottawa County.With the excitement and challenges of a new position, Jennifer still has time to furtherher education. She is currently enrolled in the court management program through theOhio Judicial College. Jennifer is one of 40 people to be accepted into this program.In addition, Jennifer is involved in the community and is a member of several professionalorganizations. She is involved with the Ottawa County Chamber of Commerce, theSave Our Homes initiative in Ottawa County and Joyful Connections, a supervisedexchange/visitation facility for families. Jennifer holds memberships in: the OhioAssociation of Court Administrators, Ohio Clerk of Courts Association and the OhioJury Management Association.Jennifer is married to Ted and they have two children, Shelby, age 13 and Gage, age11.
