Provisionshall be made to keep the viewing heads cool below 75 0 C and to keepoptical system clean during firing/non firing by pressurized air.9.2.9 Piping, fitting and valves in fuel oil (HFO & LDO) firing systemi) The piping in fuel oil firing (HFO & LDO) shall con<strong>for</strong>m to followingcodes:a) Steam & condensatepiping below 20kg/cm 2 pressureb) Fuel oil pipingc) Piping/ valve sizingIS 1239 (heavy duty) or ASTM- A- 106Gr. B or equivalent.1. API-5L GR B or ASTM-A-106 Gr. B(be<strong>for</strong>e pressurizing pump).2. IS1978 or equivalent (from discharge<strong>of</strong> pressurizing pump to boiler).1. Heavy oil: HFO piping system <strong>of</strong> eachsteam generator shall be sized to meetthe fuel oil requirement <strong>of</strong> the unit <strong>for</strong>operation at 30% BMCR load.2. Light oil: LDO piping system <strong>of</strong> eachshall be sized to meet the fuel oilrequirement <strong>of</strong> the unit <strong>for</strong> operation at7.5% BMCR load.ii)iii)iv)Piping and fittings shall be <strong>of</strong> carbon steel butt welded connection(where possible) con<strong>for</strong>ming to ASTM-A 234 (or approved equivalentstandard). All the flange connections shall con<strong>for</strong>m to IS:6392 (orapproved equivalent standard) and shall be suitable to withstand designconditions <strong>of</strong> system, to which they are connected.Valves <strong>for</strong> oil services shall be plug type/ ball type, leak pro<strong>of</strong>, fire safeas per the requirement <strong>of</strong> API 6FA. Material <strong>of</strong> valves on oil lines shallbe Cast Iron on pump suction side and Cast Steel on pump dischargeside.One no. <strong>of</strong> HFO cooler <strong>of</strong> adequate size alongwith its 100% bypass perunit shall be provided on the heavy fuel oil return line <strong>for</strong> cooling <strong>of</strong> thereturn oil to the temperature <strong>of</strong> oil in the fuel oil storage tanks. Thecooler shall be complete with all connecting piping, valves, supports etc.<strong>for</strong> HFO oil as well as cooling water. It shall be located in the FOpressurizing pump house area.v) Facility shall be provided <strong>for</strong> complete flushing <strong>of</strong> heavy fuel oilhandling system by LDO. For LDO handling system, steam flushingsystem shall be provided <strong>for</strong> cleaning during commissioning.78
