Standard Technical Features of BTG System for Supercritical 660/800 MW Thermal UnitsCHAPTER- 22.CONDENSATE POLISHING PLANT22.1 GeneralThe Condensate polishing Plant shall consist of one set of Condensatepolishing Units (CPU) for each TG unit and a common external regenerationsystem. The CPU for each 660 MW unit shall consist of 3x50% capacityservice vessels (4x33.3% for 800 MW unit size).22.2 Salient Design Datai) The design flow (through working vessels) for each condensate polishingunit shall be as per condensate flow corresponding to TG output atVWO with 1% make up and design condenser pressure.ii)The following dissolved solids concentration and conditions shall beused as a basis of design for the condensate polishing system (the ionicconcentrations indicated below are as such):Description Influent Effluenta) Ammonia ppb 100 --b) Total dissolved solids (excluding100 20ammonia), ppbc) Silica, ppb 30 5d) Iron, ppb 50 5e) Sodium, ppb 10 2f) Chloride, ppb 10 2g) pH 8 – 9.3 --h) Effluent conductivity after removal -- 0.1 or lessof ammonia and amines (micromhos/cm) at 25 0 C.i) Suspended solids (crud), ppb 25 5Under the above operating and design flow through the polisher units, the service run of the vessels shall be minimum 15 days (360 hrs). Themode of CPU operation during this period shall be either in hydrogencycle or a combination of hydrogen and ammonia cycle maintaining theabove effluent quality. Whenever specific conductivity starts increasingfrom 0.1 micro mhos/cm in the effluent, it shall deemed that “ammoniabreak point” has reached and ammonia cycle has commenced.194
