Standard Technical Features of BTG System for Supercritical 660/800 MW Thermal Units20.1 GeneralCHAPTER- 20AUXILIARY STEAM PRESSURE REDUCING &DESUPERHEATING SYSTEMTo meet the continuous and startup auxiliary steam requirements of the unit(s),two auxiliary pressure reducing and desuperheating stations, one high capacityPRDS taking tap off from main steam (MS) or intermediate stage ofsuperheaters as per proven practice of OEM and other low capacity PRDStaking tap off from cold reheat (CRH) lines shall be provided. A hightemperature unit header by taking steam from both the above PRDS and alsoa low temperature unit header by taking steam from the high temperature unitheader though a desuperheater shall be provided. The respective hightemperature and low temperature auxiliary steam headers of individual unitsshall be interconnected. Provision shall be kept for interconnection ofrespective high and low temperature station headers with correspondingheader(s) of future unit(s). Output steam of the auxiliary boiler (if provided)shall be connected to the low/ high temperature station header.As per manufacturer’s standard and proven practice, each unit can be providedwith only high temperature auxiliary steam header with auxiliary steamrequirement at lower parameters to be met from this header using suitablePRDS for individual application.If steam for the Steam Generator unit auxiliaries is required atpressure/temperature other than that of the auxiliary steam headers, suitablearrangements shall be made in design of the Steam Generator to meet suchrequirements.In addition to the above, a pressure reduction station shall also be provided tosupply steam at required parameters for fuel oil heating and air conditioningplant (if required). The pressure reducing station shall draw steam from a tapoff provided on low temperature auxiliary steam station header.20.2 High capacity PRDS shall be sized for auxiliary steam requirement of about150 TPH and shall be generally sized to cater to the auxiliary steamrequirements for following:i) Startup requirement of the unit.ii)iii)iv)Continuous and intermittent requirement of the unit.Startup requirement of other unit.As standby to low capacity PRDS station.187
Standard Technical Features of BTG System for Supercritical 660/800 MW Thermal Units20.3 Low capacity PRDS shall be sized for auxiliary steam requirement of about 20TPH including for requirement of fuel oil heating and air conditioning plant (ifrequired) and shall supply steam for normal continuous requirements of itsown unit.20.4 Sharing of Load requirement between high capacity station header and lowcapacity station header shall be possible in case low capacity PRDS is unableto meet Auxiliary steam requirement on its own. The change over from highcapacity PRDS to low capacity PRDS & vice verse shall be automatic.188
