<strong>Standard</strong> <strong>Technical</strong> <strong>Features</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>BTG</strong> <strong>System</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>Supercritical</strong> <strong>660</strong>/800 MW Thermal Unitsv) For cavitation service, only valve with anti cavitation trim shall beprovided. Applications like CEP minimum recirculation valve shallhave anti-cavitation trim with tight shut-<strong>of</strong>f. The deaerator levelcontrol valve shall have characterized trim cages to have a cavitationprotection at minimum flow as well as good rangeability.18.3 Thermal Insulation18.3.1 General requirementsi) Thermal insulation shall be provided mainly <strong>for</strong> conservation <strong>of</strong> heatand maintenance <strong>of</strong> temperature as per design cycle and personnelprotection.ii)iii)iv)Insulation alongwith aluminum cladding shall be provided <strong>for</strong> all theequipments/surfaces (excluding coal pulverisers) having skintemperature more than 60 0 C.For the piping and the equipment with surface operating temperature <strong>of</strong>60 0 C and above, the personnel protection insulation shall be appliedsuch that the temperature <strong>of</strong> protective cladding is below 60 0 C.An insulation thickness schedule shall be prepared covering both thecases <strong>of</strong> heat conservation and personnel protection based on thefollowing design data:a) Design ambient temperature : 40 0 Cb) Maximum cladding temperature : 60 0 Cc) Wind speed : 0.25m/sd) Emissivity <strong>of</strong> cladding : 0.2e) Thermal conductivity : As per relevant ISf) The minimum acceptable : 1. 75 mm <strong>for</strong> Boiler & TGinsulation thickness2. 70 mm <strong>for</strong> ESP surfaces3. 25 mm <strong>for</strong> other surfacesg) Pipe/equipment wall temperature : Fluid design temperaturev) The insulation thickness to be provided shall be calculated as perASTM C-680 or BS- EN-ISO 12241 subject to minimum thicknessvalues as mentioned above.vi)The material and application <strong>of</strong> insulation material, protectivecladding, wire mesh etc. shall con<strong>for</strong>m to the latest edition <strong>of</strong> thefollowing standards/ codes:181
