2. <strong>School</strong>s should emphasize a 125-mile of half-day limitation for events scheduled ona weekday and a 300-mile limitation for events scheduled on weekends.3. Events sponsored by non-educational agencies should be scrutinized with extremecare. Sponsoring agencies should submit, upon request, a financial accounting todemonstrate that they do not profit unreasonably from such sponsorship.4. Activities scheduled on the Unified <strong>Iowa</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> Activities Federation calendarshould be given priority in relation to programs sponsored by outside agencies.PENALTY DEADLINE INFORMATION/INTENT TO REGISTEREvents sponsored by the <strong>Iowa</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>Music</strong> Association have establishedregistration deadlines. <strong>School</strong>s failing to register by the established deadline will have apenalty period of approximately one week following the registration deadline within whichthey may register for participation by paying the registration fees and the accompanyingpenalty. <strong>The</strong> penalty fee will be 50% of the original registration fee, per festival, to amaximum of $25.00 and this must be postmarked by the penalty deadline.Early each school year, the IHSMA will mail an “INTENT TO REGISTER” card toevery member school, requesting its completion and return. This card will provide informationrelative to the programs in which each school intends participation. Careful planning will need to be done by several of your students to avoid conflictswith IHSMA festival dates. <strong>The</strong> October 23 date conflicts with All-State Auditions and theApril 1 date conflicts with our Class 2A Solo/Small Ensemble Festival.NOTICE!!
