Jefferson Show Choir Festival Cedar Rapids Mar 10-11 IHSMAWashington Show Choir Invitational Cedar Rapids Mar 11 IHSMASCIBA Concert Band Festival Pella Mar 11 IHSMATEACHER TENURE AWARD<strong>The</strong> <strong>Iowa</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>Music</strong> Association has developed a Teacher Tenure Award torecognize persons who have spent a significant number of years instructing <strong>Iowa</strong> highschool musicians. To be eligible for this award, teachers must have completed 30, 35, or40 years of contracted high school music instruction in the state of <strong>Iowa</strong> or any year inexcess of 30 upon notification of intentions to retire. This Tenure Award certificate willalso be awarded for individual year increments in excess of 40 years. Upon submissionof a letter of verification attesting to the years of experience signed by both a high schooladministrator and the director, an appropriate certificate will be presented at the All-StateFestival Concert. <strong>The</strong> letters of verification must be received in the IHSMA office byOctober 1 in order to receive the award at the coming festival.CONSTITUTION OF THE IOWA HIGH SCHOOL MUSIC ASSOCIATIONAmended January 1996ARTICLE INameSection 1. This Association shall be known as the <strong>Iowa</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>Music</strong> Association.PurposeSection 2. It shall exist for the purpose of furthering interest and establishing standardsin all forms of high school music.MembershipSection 3. Only high schools accredited or approved by the State Department of Educationand meeting the requirements of this Constitution are eligible for membership inthis Association.Junior high schools are not accepted for membership in this Association. Studentsenrolled in a junior high school may participate under the auspices of the senior highschools of the school district in which it is located. In case the district includes more thanone senior high school, the Superintendent of the school shall designate the high schoolwith which the junior high school is to be affiliated for participation in the activities of theAssociation.Annual MeetingSection 4. <strong>The</strong> Annual Meeting shall be held during the month of July. Special meetingsmay be called by the Executive Committee.ARTICLE IIFestivalsSection 1. <strong>The</strong> Executive Committee shall have authority to arrange such festivals asthey may deem necessary.ARTICLE IIIDuesSection 1. Annual dues of $25 shall be sent to the Executive Secretary of the Associationon or before September 15. Dues shall be $37.50 ($25 dues plus $12.50 penalty)until January 1.
