REHEARSAL SCHEDULESThe specific rehearsal schedule for each of the All-State ensembles will be mailed toauditioning schools prior to auditions. Check this very carefully. Any All-State Chorusstudent who is late to rehearsal will check-in with the All-State Chorus Chair. He/she willnot rejoin the chorus but will sit with their director at the back of the chorus for the remainderof that rehearsal block of time. They may rejoin the chorus for the next rehearsal.A second incident of tardiness will result in automatic disqualification.MISCELLANEOUS ARRANGEMENTS1. Complimentary Tickets: Complimentary tickets for directors of participating studentswill be issued on the following basis: One ticket will be issued for each departmentrepresented in the All-State Festival ensembles; i.e., vocal = 1 ticket; orchestra= 1 ticket; band = 1 ticket. If a string player is accepted from a school withoutan orchestra program, a complimentary ticket will be awarded to the band programONLY if that program had no players chosen for band. No director is entitledto more than a single complimentary ticket nor any district more than a total of three.Call the Association office if you have questions. All seats are reserved. Schoolsare responsible for securing tickets for drivers, chaperons, spouses of directors andstudent teachers.2. Check your calendar carefully. Do not enter students who may have a conflict withany activity. Each student must be available for all rehearsals in Ames.3. If your school is to be represented in Ames, you will receive a final mailing containingstudents names for you to proof for spelling, directors’ responsibilities, completerules and regulations, and a map of the Iowa State Center area.SHOW-JAZZ CHOIR/JAZZ BAND FESTIVALShow-Jazz Choir/Jazz Band Festivals are scheduled as follows:Jazz Band Festival - Classes 3A, 1A, A - January 15, 2000Show-Jazz Choir/Jazz Band Festival - Classes 4A, 2A - January 29, 2000Show-Jazz Choir Festival - Classes 3A, 1A, A - January 31, 2000Registration forms, regulations and adjudication forms for these festivals will be mailed tomember schools the early part of November.PIANO FESTIVALFebruary 12, 2000Registration forms will be mailed in early November. The deadline date for entry is December10, 1999; penalty deadline is December 17, 1999.Rules and Regulations1. A fee of $9 will be charged for each entry.2. Schools may have an unlimited number of participants.3. All entry fees should be sent to Everett D. Johnson, Executive Secretary, Iowa HighSchool Music Association, Boone, Iowa 50036-0010.4. A master adjudication form will be mailed directly to schools by the IHSMA.
