I will not cover every detail as I’m sure most watched live on PGA links. If you were unable towatch, it is available to view on the web-site.One of the more pressing issues facing the association currently is MSR and the approaching end to the cycle on June15, 2011. We currently have more than 40% of the class a members in need of MSR points. Many are in the educationcomponent, but more are lacking in the meeting component. When the new MSR program was rolled out in June of2008, a new meeting component was added requiring all members to attend at least 12 hours of meetings. These can bea combination of national, sectional, chapter or town hall meetings. I just so happens that we, Josh and the officers, wereplanning on heading to the geographical “corners” of the section to have town hall meetings anyway. So… if you are inneed of meeting credits or just want to share your thoughts about the section, we would love to have you join us. Ourfirst town hall meeting was scheduled for November 30th at Jefferson City CC. Thanks Mike Wensing and your stafffor hosting us. We are currently finalizing dates and times for Northern and Southern IL as well as St. Louis. The topics and presentations centered much on the future and how our approach to marketing and growing the gamewill need to change. Many have surmised that the age of email marketing has come to an end and we should considermoving to “social” networking utilities to better communicate with our members and customers. Consider thesestatistics, Facebook (1/2 billion accounts), Twitter (1.3 billion accounts) and the App Store (more than half a millionapps). These are current statistics; Facebook and twitter are showing significant growth each quarter. The averageAmerican spends 4 hours a day in front of some type of display; computer, phone or ipad. This years Annual Meeting was an election year and we had six very qualified candidates seeking the position ofSecretary. In the end Derek Sprague of the Northern New York section was elected. Derek’s message centered on threemain points; education, employment and a through review of all of the PGA programs.I wish all of you the Happiest of Holidays and all the best for the New Year. Please don’t hesitate to contact me withany questions or concerns.Mike Miller, PGAGateway PGASection PresidentAnnouncementsNEW JUNIOR GOLF DIRECTORThe Gateway PGA isexcited to announce oursections new JuniorGolf Director, KellyNewland.
