THE EASTERN FOOTBALLER CLUB NOTES BAYSWATER Travelling to Mooroolbark was always going to be a tough assignment for us and that proved to be the case for both the reserves and seniors with the colts playing their away game against The Basin. The colts were undermanned from the start but like every game this year, fought it out to the end. Better players were Steve WEBER, James HADJ, Marc CHESNEAU, Matt LARKIN, Phil MILNE and Josh HUNTER. The reserves were outclassed by a better side on the day eventually losing by 61 points. The highlight was Phil 'Hotdog' Sankey's game at full back to earn himself best along with Ben Mitchell and Col Craney. The senior had a great start to their game and had their kicking boot on with 12 straight to three quarter time. The last quarter was a battle of the defences with only 8 points being scored as we held on to win by 7 points. Best were Damien MUNIVRANA, Ben WILLIAMS, Simon DENTON, Brett CAMPBELL, Damien SOUNESS and Gabe WILLIAMS. Congratulations to Dion Purton on 150 club games with Bayswater. A terrific achievement. As announced last week, we will be hosting the First Division finals again so this is an early call to remind all our workers to get on board and make this years series the best ones yet. The Major Raffle is coming up on the 23rd July as well as the around the world night later on in the year. We also have the 1985 and 1995 premiership reunions on the 30th July. More info to follow but mark them in your calendar. Good luck for all three teams today. GO WATERS!! DONCASTER EAST Good tough effort on Saturday against Templestowe they took it up to us like we knew they would but we came away with the points. The Rezzies need to lift now they looked like getting the points but let their guard down and missed out. They will need to win every game from now on if they are to play finals. We think that they can they only have Sth Croydon to worry about. This week we have the Ball and boy have we been waiting for this night. It promises to be another fantastic function. I can't wait to see the guys and the girls in their best gear. There are lots of interesting things on the agenda. Can't wait. We have a big game today at Bayswater and it is most important that we stamp our authority today especially at their home base. Let's hope that we come away with the points and that we stay injury free. Go Panthers. 39 Third Division HEATHMONT Unfortunately played a younger side. To our younger players, Leechy, the Vallani twins and Jarnie, well done. Thanks to Jo and the juniors for organising last Saturday’s trivia night. A great night was had by all. Don’t forget to collect your raffle books from Brad or Joffa. This is our major raffle for the year, with fantastic prizes. Drawn August 13. Go you good thing – Yes it’s FONOME. After coming second last week and making a few people richer, he’s racing today, so put your bets on. Thanks to our sponsors, ASAP Glass and Heathmont Fish Supply for their continued support. MOOROOLBARK A day of mixed fortunes last week when we played host to Bayswater. The Colts had the bye so we got to sleep in. The Reserves turned up ready to fire and for the first time this season played 4 quarters of football, running out 61 point victors. Colts player, Daniel Dimitriou, dropped back from the seniors and was sensational, kicking 5 goals. Jimmy Hammond kicked 2 after missing a few easy ones. Best were McArthur, S.Dimitriou, D.Dimitriou, Hammond, Jones & Craney. The Seniors proved that inaccuracy in front of goal can cost you the game. With 8 more scoring shots we dominated play in most facets of the game but we let ourselves down with our kicking to go down by 7 points. Mitch Bonuda and Shane Thompson kicked 3 goals each and best players were Reinhardt, P.Miller, Fitzgerald, Boyes, S.Thompson & Bonuda. We have now slipped down the ladder and need to win the next few games to get ourselves back up and in contention for finals footy, starting with Heathmont today. Don't forget to book your table for the Trivia Night on 23rd July. GO MUSTANGS !!! NUNAWADING A dogged effort from both our teams last weekend, in must win games against our old foe Heathmont. After allowing the Jets to kick the first couple, the seniors turned on one of their better first halves for the season, in a stark contrast to last week. A minor lapse in the third quarter was then followed by a dominant final term as we ran out winners by 12 goals. Sam McCallum bagged 7 and Rick Pulvirenti 5, including his 100th career goal for the Club. Player of the Week was Ange Gencarelli, who is showing that there's still plenty left in the old dog yet. The reserves also put in one of their best first terms for the year but allowed Heathmont

CLUB NOTES back into the game with poor concentration in the second. A more even second half, and the welcome return to form by many or our players, provided a 7 goal victory. Andrew Gawne, Jason Mitchell and Robbie Papp all snagged 3 goals, with Craig Myers winning Player of the Week honours in his 50th game for the Club. This week's games out at Warrandyte is a big opportunity to gain respect away from home as well as gain some important momentum if we are prepared to work our hardest. Trivia Night is fast approaching on Saturday 23rd July (after the Coldstream game). SOUTH CROYDON A somewhat disappointing wkd for the club with the snrs losing to Upper Gully and slipping out of the four. We now have to work that much harder to get back that game we sit out. On a brighter note the twos and the eighteens remain undefeated the twos getting ova the line by 4 1/2 goals. The unders won by 10 goals with a big thankyou going to the under 16 boys who filled the void left by injuries and promotion. JULY 16th is our next function at the rooms WATCH THIS SPACE for further details. Make sure everyone gets out and supports all our sponsors like they do us - Sth Croydon Gourmet Meat, Subway Croydon, Bendigo Bank East Ringwood, Turtle Den and Bubbas- Tell them your from Sth for great specials. TEMPLESTOWE The local derby - could this be the last one for a while? Donny East sitting on top and Tempy always keen to knock them off! Zerbes was in pretty good knick apart from the sticky centre wicket section, but we thought this would suit us. 3 goals to 4 in the first half and we were right in the game at half time. Briggsy put in claims for goal of the year, and Boo was repelling from half back. Aswell as copping a spray from behind the goals about his tidy short back & sides hairdoo. A lacklustre 2nd half saw DE get a few extra goals in front which was the difference, in what was 'just' a game. The 2s had their best win for the season, we knew it would be a big day when almost 100 game, 10 year vetran C Peart kicked the opening goal at 100-1 odds. Nice lead, strong mark and straight kick from about 45 out. Donny East kicked the next 5 goals but we more were desperate, hard and committed. We fought back well and the Skipper put us in front in the 3rd, then the Cockroach did the same in the last. Before Cribbsy then Sniffa (from outside 50!) kicked 40 Third Division THE EASTERN FOOTBALLER the sealers. What a sweet victory ... Onto the Ball, half the boys were still celebrating the 2s win while the 1s were looking towards next week, until beer took over and everyone was having a great time. Even Evo managed to walk again after an interesting entrance. Some great stories will be shared tonight after 2 wins against Sth Croydon and then the 'Legends Match'. The Maroons v the Dragons where a few old battlers will dust off the boots which should be a ripper, followed by plenty of refreshments at the Gavin Brown Bar to follow. By the way - HAPPY 30th Nath!!! UPPER FERNTREE GULLY Great effort by all our boys last week, especially the Seniors who put four great quarters of team footy together to bring up our best win so far this year. Take it all the way now boys!! Bit of "deja-vu" at the $10k draw on Sunday with the same quinella left after 218 tickets had been drawn out. Congrats to Scoony and Kristie AGAIN!!...we all want to go halves in a ticket with you next year! And those that don't go halves, want to at least buy theirs off Pete! Thanks to all who worked so hard to make last week such a success. Its a HUGE day and takes a HUGE effort to bring it off! Welcome today to all our past players, officials and supporters to our first luncheon. With the great roll up today, looks like this might be the first of many. Thanks Gerry Wilson for organising today and all those who have helped put this day together. Don't forget Trivia Nite 30th July. WARRANDYTE Travelled to Coldstream with the hope of two big wins. The day started well with the two’s pulling off a great win. They got off to great start and never looked like losing. The Zach boys played great games, while Truno and Boycey also performed well. Unfortunately the one’s couldn’t continue the success. We were in it at half time but were badly beaten in the end. Best players were Kearnas, Treebs, Loags, and Moose. On a brighter note, the ladies had a great night watching Warrandyte‚s finest in Man O Man. Big things were expected from Geoff Zach but performance anxiety got the better of him and he was voted off very quickly. The rest of the boys put in a close contest, but in the end crowd favorite Anthony “The Giant” Richardson took out the title. Watching the great man in action with ladies swooning all over him, was truly a great sight. Well done big man. Today we take on Nunawading at home. We are a big chance boys, lets get two wins. GO BLOODS!
