SENIOR FINALS VENUES
ANNOUNCED
The count down to the finals is now on, and it is
the time of year when coaches start to look ahead to
who they may be playing in the finals, as well as where they
will be playing. Whilst who teams will be playing will not be
known for another six weeks in the senior ranks, this week
the finals venues have been announced.

Surrey Park coach Adam Rossoukas was a happy
man last weekend, as his side broke a four game
losing streak to bring up their third victory of the season, and
separate themselves from the battle for the wooden spoon. A
big second half set up the win after a slow
start. “We dominated a lot of the first
quarter but did not convert, so we changed
our setup and structure in the forward line
and the results started to come.” Brother
Justin kicked 10 goals, and the coach was
quick to praise the midfield that supplied his
brother with the football. “He (Justin)
finished the job for us, but the key
midfielders in Litchfield, Colbert and
Henningsen were the prime guys that got
the ball down to him.”
EAGLES BOUNCE BACK
After losing their first game of
the season, Vermont was quick
to return to the winners list with

a 105 point win over East Ringwood. “We
did a lot of work leading up to the game to
try and revisit some of things we put in place at
the start of the year, changed our training program a
little bit and it paid off on the weekend,” coach David
Banfield said about the week leading up to their East
Ringwood clash. Banfield highlighted their ball usage into
the forwardline the previous week cost them. “We did not use
the ball well against Noble Park, which did not help, and
every time they went forward they had some very good
targets, especially Will Sangster early, and up the other end
we could not seem to take a mark. Fortunately (vs East
Ringwood) Talevski and Stephens got us going early which
gives the onballers something to aim at.”
FERNTREE GULLY MOVE TO FIFTH
Ferntree Gully coach Darren Sidebottom is
pleased his side have put together a winning
streak, which has seen them rise up the division four ladder.
“We have won three in a row now, so there is plenty of
confidence going around FTG. We have just worked on the
fact we haven’t beaten a side above us on the ladder all year,
and this was our chance to do that (vs Kilsyth).” The return
of Brendan Milburn to the senior lineup
after injured has helped results. “Brendan
just straightens us up, he is a class full
forward. His first game back for us he
kicked 10, then three and five, but it is not
just the goals he kicks, but the goals he sets
up. We’ve got a little forward pocket that has
kicked about 12 goals over the last three
weeks, just by being front and square of
Brendan, he is just fantastic.”
Norwood's Michael Stewart received the
Croydon Ritz Cinema best on ground
award in the radio game last week, and is
this weeks U21 Boral Player of the Week.
