CLUB NOTES
FURTHER MOTIVATION REQUIRED.
Congratulations to Wally an exceptional clubman both
on and off the field. Reserves a starting to build some
momentum and played good football to come away
with the points from Doncaster. Best DJ, M Tucker, S
Whitelegg, D Warner and Broags. Seniors had a
disappointing day and need to regroup for Wally's
200th. Best Mal Shinnick, Adam Tuck and Boogie.
Sportsman's night Wednesday 3rd August $30
NORWOOD
Today the Seniors play for the Bob Ward Trophy in
the local derby against Nth Ringwood. We wish to
thank Bob Ward on his sponsorship for this trophy
and hope Norwood can keep it in the trophy cabinet.
Last week saw Norwood at Knox, with the Colts
being beaten by a very determined Knox team. Great
to see Thomo back after his knee op. Best players;
Nick Mahy, David Knowles & David Johnson. The
Reserves showed great tackling, harassing and came
out victories by 6 goals. It has been said they are the
best Reserves team Norwood has had in many years.
Best Players: M. Ewison, Beezel & Smitty. The
Seniors had a good even performance against Knox,
but need to lift it up a bit and to keep improving.
There were a few lapses in the game, but recorded
another great win. Best Players: M. Stewart, Daygo,
Walky, AJ, & Brockers. SOCIAL NEWS: Tonight in
the rooms - Beer & Bourbon Night with Dylan &
Kurt. 23/7 - Club Fresh at Zu Bar see Jnr or The Kid
for tickets now !! If you have purchased your Major
Raffle ticket, see Gary Bower and be in the early
draw in the 5 weeks pre 21/8
RINGWOOD
Colts kept hard at it all day and the 31 point was a
good win considering the team had a depleted bench
because of injuries. 4 goals each for Katsiavos and
Chenhall. Certainly an entertaining game to witness
in the Reserves with the players refusing to give up
and showing determined spirit - a great team effort!
With no Andrew Nichol it was satisfying to note that
the Seniors could adapt without a full forward
dominance and that the goals were shared between 8
players. Very, very had to pick best players on the
day when everyone stepped up and did what was
expected of them and more! A huge welcome today
to our magnificent sponsors and legendary life
members. REMEMBER: SUPPORTING OUR
ROWVIILE
All the dedication and hard work has its pay day and
against Mulgrave the Colts displayed character and a
will to win. After an even first half, the Colts came
out and kicked ten second half goals to record a huge
win. A.Minness and N Elliott were best in an
excellent team effort. Last week the Reserves
enjoyed highs of a last kick win. This week it was a
last kick loss. T Foster again collected his bag of
goals whilst Pierce, Howard and Bond showed their
talents. The Seniors turned up to play. Instead of a
slow start, seven first quarter goals exposed the trend
of the game. M Silver ended up with fifteen goals
(more than I kicked in a career) and Morris kicked
three in a superb game. J Davies showcased his skills
whilst Notman, Giannopoulos and the Knights
completed the rout. This week is Knox in a Season
where every game is very important and there are no
easy games.
SCORESBY
The Club wishes Andrew Pybus a speedy recovery
from his accident & hopes to see him out on the
paddock in a Scoresby jumper as soon as possible.
The Seniors had a fantastic win last week with
everyone contributing to a 111 point win. Great
Provider Player of the Day was Marc ‘Hot Dogs’
Williams who booted 7 goals, ably supported by
Shez, Steenie & Pryce. The Reserves had a close
game up to _ time and led by a couple of points, but
the opposition drew away after that. Great Provider
Best Player was David Wade, with Jacko, Phil
Muscat & Shannon also playing well. The Colts’
game was a very physical encounter with Boronia
taking the game right up to us. Our boys showed
great character to keep their head over the ball & get
numbers to the contest to generate enough scoring
opportunities. Subway Scoresby Best Player was
Anthony Faulkner, Best Team Player was Troy
Jamieson & the Red Rooster Sacrificial Act Award
went to Jake Kelly. SOCIAL NOTES: Good luck to
the punters tomorrow at ‘A Day at the Races’.
Coming up: Gala Dinner – 23/7; Sponsor & Past
Players’ lunch – 30/7; Ladies’ Fashion Parade – 19/8.
