Section 17. Mounting the Hatch (with/canopy)CONTINUEDStep 5. Locate the canopy and note the trim lines. Carefullytrim out the canopy using Lexan ® scissors or regular scissors.Use care in cutting out the canopy.Step 7. After confirming the fit of the canopy to the hatch, attachit to the hatch using canopy glue such as Pacer 560. Maskingtape can be used to hold the canopy in place while the glue dries.Allow the canopy glue to dry at least 24 hours. Trim tape for thecanopy can be applied now. (Blue trim strips are provided.)Step 6. After cutting out the canopy, trial fit it to the hatch. Trimas necessary to make a proper fit.Step 8. With the instrument panel, pilot (optional), and canopymounted to the hatch, slide the hatch into the fuselage. Carefullyscrew in the four 4-40 cap screws and washers until the hatch issnug. Do not overtighten; the fuselage covering will be marred.40
Section 18: Adding DecalsParts Needed• Fuselage• Wing• Decal sheetTools and Adhesives Needed• Ruler• Scissors• Soft cloth• Masking tape (optional)Step 1. Locate the decal sheet included in the kit. Use the boxart photos as an approximate position reference for theapplication of the included decals.Step 2. Using the box as a reference, cut out the decals for thecowl (Saito, JR) as applicable. If you are using a different engineor radio, you can apply decals applicable to the equipment youhave. Apply the decals to the cowl and rub with a soft cloth towork out any bubbles or wrinkles.Step 4. The Aeroshelle decal can be applied to both sides of thefuselage turtledeck behind the canopy as shown in the photobelow. The Edge 540 decal is placed on each side of the fuselagebehind the hatch area.Step 5. The IMAC and American Flag are applied to both sidesof the vertical stabilizer and rudder as shown.Step 3. Next, apply the Hangar 9 decal to the wheel pants.Step 6. The “Edge 540” decal is applied to the top of the wing,the “Edge” decal is applied to the left wing panel, and the “540”decal is applied to the right wing panel, centered and parallel tothe red stripe. Refer to the photo below.41
