4Arbor Day ActivitiesThe <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Delaware</strong> and the <strong>Delaware</strong>Shade Tree Commission will celebrateArbor Day on April 29 at 4:30 p.m. atWilbur Bills Fire House #1 at the corner<strong>of</strong> Park Avenue and Liberty Street.Arbor Day activities will include thefollowing:• Speaking to each fourth grade class inthe community about Arbor Day, theimportance <strong>of</strong> trees, and what theShade Tree Commission does. Eachfourth grader is given a tree seedlingto plant.• A poster contest is held with the fourthgrade classes with the theme <strong>of</strong> theposter centering on the importance <strong>of</strong>trees. The Shade Tree commissionjudges the posters and the winningclass receives a tree to plant on theirschool grounds. Trees are donatedby the <strong>Delaware</strong> Soil and WaterConservation District.• A beautification award is given to alocal business, which has done themost to enhance their landscaping byusing trees.Special Events<strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Delaware</strong> Easter Egg HuntMingo Park – APRIL 23RD @ 11 A.M.
