16 Youth Activities / RecyclingSafety Town*Delaware Safety Town is a one-week educational programgeared for children entering Kindergarten or first grade in thefall of 2011. Safety Town is an interactive program that isdesigned to educate the children in a variety of safety topicsand techniques that can be utilized in real-life situations. Topicsinclude: fire safety, bike, bus, and pedestrian safety, the properuse of 911, poisons, stranger awareness, traffic safety, andanimal safety. In addition, participants will be introduced to firefighters, police officers, school bus drivers, and many othercommunity helpers. Registration is taken at the Parks &Recreation Office at 500 E. Rate: $35 / Non-Res. Rate: $45Playground EquipmentPlayground Safety Guidelines - The play equipment in our cityparks is heavily used. When used properly they can give kids andtheir families hours of quality play time and physical activity. In aneffort to keep everyone safe, we are including the followingguidelines for your child’s safety.Caution - Playing on the equipment with bare feet may cause injury.Throwing mulch or any other object within play area may causeinjury. Playing on the equipment when it is wet may cause injury.Swings - Hold on with both hands. Never swing or twist emptyseats. Standing on swings can cause injury. Stop swinging beforegetting off. Stand clear of moving swings to avoid contact andpossible injury.Slides - Slide feet first only. No running or walking up slide.Climbers - No pushing, running, or shoving.courteous of others.Play safely & beIf you notice broken equipment or anything thatrequires attention, please call 740-203-1450.We appreciate your cooperation.Curbside Recyclingand YardwasteCollectionFor bins oradditional information,call 203-1810.Items placed out for curbside collection should be sorted into 2groupings: Fiber Products (newsprint, paperboard/chipboard,corrugated cardboard and all types of paper) and Non-FiberProducts (plastic, glass, bimetal and aluminum).
