<strong>XR1045</strong>Safety WarningNEVER allow passengers toride on the forklift. DO NOTallow riders on the frameor operator cab. Allowingpassengers to ride could result in death or seriousinjury. The reach forklift is designed for the safety ofthe operator only.NEVER use crab or four wheel (4W)steering for traveling at high speeds. Useonly two wheel (2W) steering for higherspeed travel and slow the forklift beforeturning. Rapid turning while using crab or four wheel(4W) steering can cause tip over which could result indeath or serious injury.DO NOT travel with an elevated boom.Retract the boom fully. Lower the boomas low as practical for proper visibility.Maintain enough ground clearancefor conditions. Traveling with an elevated boom cancause tip over, which could result in death or seriousinjury.Allow for adequate clearance betweenthe attachment and other objectswhen turning. The attachment extendsbeyond the front of the forklift. Theoperator must be aware of the maximum sweep of anyattachment being used to avoid hitting personnel andother objects in the area and to prevent death, seriousinjury, or property damage. WarningTo prevent death, serious injury, orproperty damage, make sure the forkliftcomes to a complete stop before movingthe travel select lever. A sudden change indirection of travel, while carrying a load, could reducestability and/or cause the load to shift or fall.DO NOT shift through multiple gears witha single turn of the gear select lever. Allowthe engine speed to slow down beforeshifting to the next lower gear. Improperuse of the gear select lever could cause transmissiondamage or forklift tip over/roll over and result in deathor serious injury.Operate the forklift for maximum stability.Unstable forklifts can tip over, resulting indeath, serious injury, or property damage.Keep the forklift stable by following theseand other appropriate guidelines:• Adjust speed for terrain and conditions.• Avoid obstacles by driving around them rather thanover them, when possible.• Start, stop, travel, steer, and brake smoothly.• Load, unload, and turn the forklift on level ground,when possible.• Slow down for turns.• Slow down for rough, slippery, or soft terrain.• Use caution around steep slopes, creeks, gullies,ridges, ditches, and ravines.• Stay away from soft edges that could collapse underthe forklift.For information call (800) 497-1704 Page 11
