Safety<strong>XR1045</strong> WarningOperators must be properly trainedand qualified to operate this specificforklift. Know the location, learn thespecific purpose, and demonstrate safeand proper use of all controls, instruments, indicatorlights, and safety and instruction labels. Safety isyour responsibility. Failure to follow these guidelinescould result in death or serious injury.To prevent death or serious injury, theoperator must be seated with seat beltfastened, the travel select lever set toNEUTRAL, the Parking Brake switch ON(engaged), the service brake applied, and the areafree of people and obstructions BEFORE starting theforklift.<strong>Operation</strong> Safetyapparatus. DangerDeath or serious injury by electrocutionwill result from contact with or inadequateclearance with energized power lines or• Never operate the forklift in an area where activeoverhead power lines, overhead or undergroundcables, or other power sources exist.• Contact the appropriate power or utility companyto de-energize power lines or take other suitableprecautions.Keep the forklift, attachments, and loads asafe distance from electrical power lines.• Remain at least 10 feet (3 meters), plus an additional0.4 inches (10 millimeters) for each 1,000 Volts over50,000 Volts, from active power lines and otherpower sources.• Work site operating directives and/or local or statecodes might require a greater distance.• Know the maximum height and reach of thisreach forklift. WarningUse of the frame sway control with theboom raised above horizontal couldcause tip over resulting in death or injury.Always use the frame sway control to levelthe forklift BEFORE raising the boom above horizontal.If the forklift cannot be leveled using the framesway control, do not attempt to raise or place load.Reposition forklift or have the surface leveled. WarningTo prevent death, serious injury, orproperty damage, the operator must beseated with seat belt fastened, arms, legs,and head completely inside the RolloverProtection Structure/Falling Object ProtectionStructure (ROPS/FOPS), the travel select lever inNEUTRAL, the Parking Brake switch ON (engaged), andthe service brakes applied BEFORE starting the forklift.• The seat belt MUST be worn while operating theforklift. Failure to wear the seat belt could result indeath or serious injury.DO NOT adjust the seat or seat belt whilethe forklift is moving. Keep both handson the wheel while the forklift is movingto prevent loss of forklift control whichcould result in death or serious injury.incident:Never try to escape the forklift if itbecomes unstable.
