Recommended:Intermediate – COMB 301 or equivalent.Beginning – Instruction in rules and scoring systems.Instruction in take-downs, escapes, reversals, breakdowns,rides, and pinning combinations. Transfer credit: UC; CSU (E2, C1).DANC 152 (C) CUBAN ROOTS OF SALSA (.5 or 1)(Pass/No Pass or letter grade.)Minimum of 24 or 48 lab hours/semester.Introduction to the fundamentals of Cuban populardances, including Danzon, Son, Cha Cha Cha, SonMontuno, and Salsa Cubana. With African and Europeaninfluences, these dances are the conscience of modernday Salsa. Because of these roots, students will developan authentic base that will serve as a foundation for allLatin social dances. May be repeated for credit a maximumof three times.
