Prerequisite:Eligibility for ENGL 100 or ENGL 105, or equivalent.Fundamentals of news writing and reporting, includingorganization of basic news stories, lead writing, developmentof sources, interviewing, news judgment, copy editing,and legal/ethical issues. Students enhance their reporting andnews writing by cultivating a beat, using the Web anddatabases, supplementing text with audio and video,creating podcasts, and blogging. Designed to preparestudents for the converging worlds of print, broadcast andonline journalism.
