UNIT 48: SOCIAL POLICY FOR HEALTH AND SOCIAL CAREUnit 48:Social Policy for Health andSocial CareNQF Level 3:Guided learning hours: 30BTEC NationalUnit abstractUsing the United Kingdom as an example of a wealthy country, the increases inwealth over the last 25 years and the interventions from the government have notbeen able to reverse severe inequalities in income, prosperity and life chances.Those on the margins live in a society characterised by accelerating rates of changeand new forms of poverty and deprivation.This unit will give learners invaluable knowledge and insight into the structure ofgovernment and the policy-making process, as well as the role of welfare policiesrelating to some of these vulnerable groups in society.
