It is<strong>in</strong>tended to challenge stereotypical th<strong>in</strong>k<strong>in</strong>g that all older people are <strong>in</strong> need ofpersonal care. Learners will explore ideas of age<strong>in</strong>g, <strong>and</strong> develop an underst<strong>and</strong><strong>in</strong>g ofthe impact of social change <strong>and</strong> f<strong>in</strong>ancial <strong>in</strong>dependence <strong>in</strong> determ<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g choices forolder people. They will consider the role of the carer <strong>in</strong> support<strong>in</strong>g older people todevelop a positive view of age<strong>in</strong>g, to exercise <strong>in</strong>formed choice, <strong>and</strong> to ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>dependence.
